I don't know how many people he shared his name and E-mail addy with but I was one. His one true passion was his faith. As he grew older he grew in it to the exclusion of what he had come to recognize as decisions and actions that he recognized as being sinful acts in fact. That drove him away from at least one denomination (Presbyterian) for its acceptance of what is called sin in the Bible and led him to another one. I very much believe that he is being accepted into very open arms at this moment.

Never met him in person but considered him a friend. Spoke to him on the phone many times and texted and emailed. Never worked out that we could meet him when he was in town for a game.

I sincerely regret that now.

He was one of the finest people that I knew. Absolutely a rabid LSU fan. He had a few demons but we all do.

I miss him already.

And that may yet be the best thing I can say about the guy. He placed it above himself, and believed in it so much that he refused to justify anything. In these day of religiosity and people sitting in pews playing the game and justifying self righteousness, talking about people behind their backs, and you name it, he never did compromise what he believed to be true. In contrast to many sitting in pews patting themselves on the back and looking down at others, he seemed to have a realistic view of faith and his own imperfections. That's about a light year ahead of many sitting in pews every Sunday in their Phariseeacle clothing. Truth is. If that's not the real McCoy, I don't know what is. Guy lived it.

1) he was not conflicted with his sexuality in any way. He had a partner for years and was open about it only if you asked. It didn't define him.
2) He was not conflicted with his faith either. What bothered him was the gay movement and what it was doing to fundamentally change his church. We discussed it via email many times. It tore him apart.

Maybe you knew him better than I did, but from his persona on this board, I really have to disagree with this. His sexuality and his faith were very clearly clashing in his mind, and he despised that.

I'm honestly not trying to be spiteful at all. It's just suspicious circumstances of his death. I will stop posting here if yall wish, but I mean nothing spiteful behind my comments.

It always sucks reading about a poster dying. He sounds like he was a good guy. He'll be missed here on the PT for sure.

Not meant for you, Russian.

It's not about how this man died, but how he lived. Show some respect. And from what his friends have made clear, he lived life very well. He was an LSU fan after all and how much fun is that!

May he rest in peace.

I am very sad to hear this. He was a good poster on the Rant, for sure. He was always very humorous about his sexuality, in my opinion. I would make weird puns about gay things, and he would always laugh and respond with a

This thread from 2007 about Beaver Stadium at Penn State gives a good insight into his great sense of humor

I CAN NOT BELIEVE that I am about to agree with Toddy over NC Tigah, but I vividly remember a specific thread where he clearly stated that his faith had caused him to renounce his "former lifestyle". He was responding to someone asking about his sexuality. I thought his response was awesome and detailed how a personal relationship with his Savior overcame his sinful sexual desires. If he did not consider himself no longer a homosexual, then he was, at the very least, an abstinate, non practicing homosexual whose identity was in his God & not man. Many responses in that thread were condescending towards him & how he was a poor "tortured" soul, which is on par with a worldly mindset. I thought he was at peace, on the other hand, & know for certain he is now.

RIP & you will be missed.

He kept me laughing the day I had lunch with him and 3 of his friends at Mike Anderson's the day before the Alabama football game 2 season's ago. His dry sense of humor regarding any gay related topic was better than any stand up comedian's routine. I really hoped to have more opportunities to get to spend time with him.

I am still stunned.
