It's going to be INCREDIBLE having a Director of HHS who isn't bought-and-paid-for by Big Pharma and Big Agriculture.

PS - Oh, and he also isn't a tranny like the last "gal."

If they take away Cialis they'll have to prescribe me antidepressants, 'cause I'll have the sads.

Worse cold turkey withdrawals than benzos
The depression from a cold turkey withdrawal from SSRI's is enough to make you want to kill yourself which is the reason people took them to begin with.

Better have a solid plan to get off them.

I had a 9 month stretch of Lexapro do to high stress at work. Was a low dose. Wife is on it now (going through perimenopause). And it has helped. Also a low dose.

I think the problem is people that don’t take the medicine regularly and constantly miss a dose.

To me the drugs themselves are not the biggest issue. The problem is the reliance on them as a first line of treatment without exploring any other possible solutions

Correcting any diet / exercise/ sleep issues should be addressed before SSRI use is explored

Same for kids on Ritalin / vyvanse / etc

As much as big Pharma is helping to push dependency in the name of money, part of it started because of the over litigious country we became, the mass amounts of mail practice suits basically forcing doctors to prescribe stuff even if they knew it wouldn’t help in the Hopes they wouldn’t be sued. Now docs hand out this stuff like candy, but I’m sure they are also getting huge kickbacks in addition to “protecting” themselves

One of my nephews was 'diagnosed' with ADHD.
Docs prescribed him some sort of med, IDK what it is. This was a 10 year boy. A little 10 year child.
He is now a grown man in his 20s. I think he is still on those meds.

This has/is happening with millions and millions of children for several decades.

Its much easier to give a child a pill rather than loving that child & spending time with them and teaching them how to cope with problems and adversity , feeding him/her good nutritious food and keeping them off the crap that we find EVERY where in 'grocery' stores.

You need drugs?

Sad...

Yes. And yes. My wife was suicidal for years. Finally got help. She's been on Lexapro for 5 years and been steady.

It runs in her family. Her grandma was fricking nuts worrying. She would get in the storm cellar a full 8 hours before the storm arrived

My kid is fricked up to. Yes we're trying drugs to help.

Cackle all you want. It's a problem that we need help with.

Pretty much all you have to do is go to a doc, tell them youre anxious or depressed and theylll throw pills at you.

The industry seems to have gone further downhill post Covid. GP care is horrendous.

absolutely

it is rarely worth using

I'm proud to have prevented this being forced on my child; and grateful that my parents did not allow its use on me

we've had docs and school officials pushing "mood altering" drugs on our child & I have fought it for years

I'm fortunate to have access to people in the know; my uncle is a nuclear pharmacist and I have several cousins that are pharmacists and docs -- there can be uses for some treatments; but more often than not they are used to subdue children

I am also one that refused to get a covid vax & prevented it from being administered to my children; this was based on my uncle's advice; turns out he was correct about it

my decision to name the drug without looking up the spelling does not make me wrong about it being dramatically overprescribed

It’s so refreshing having politicians that are willing to challenge the machine. The glossing over detrimental side effects and societal consequences is over.. these drugs have a purpose and our society treats them like candy

docs are strongly encouraged to push meds

many of the drugs are not bad in and of themselves; but the pressure for docs to prescribe (quotas) is not the best way forward

RFKjr getting in at HHS is a really good thing for the health of our country

My granddaughter went Friday. No tests, nothing. They ask what was wrong with her, then ask what she wanted done. They She was flabbergasted.

They prescribed an expensive inhaler when she needed a simple antibiotic.

Lexapro

Has taken a little edge off, but side effects outweigh the benefits.

I would argue that it's not addictive, but damn sure causes withdrawals!

There’s no quotas.

There is pressure. It mostly comes from patients who have been led to believe that pills are a panacea.
