What was buried in the bill?
Posted on 7/28/22 at 5:09 pm to Buzz Killington
See this is what Democrats do. They put something in the bill the GOP can not agree with and GOP doesn't vote yes. So now they have a talking point.

That’s (D)ifferent.

The Senate passed it, it went to the House where Democrats loaded it down with shite not affiliated with the original bill, and sent it back to the Senate who needed to vote Yea on everything the house tacked onto it?
What changed in the bill?

I still haven't figured this one out. Senate Republicans passed it, but it's one Senator blocking it. The question is why did he wait so late to do it?

Why can’t they unanimously pass a one page bill for the vets ?
Governing and making legislation shouldn’t be this hard
Frick all these people

With the state of everything else, do they really think anyone is buying this type of slimy shite anymore?

I'm a Vet, exposed to burn pits. Likely Ill because of it. Had bloat in it like more money for VA janitors and other bullshite. Glad it was shot down. The VA is subpar and wastes huge amounts of money. Can't keep throwing money away.

On June 23, when the Senate deliberated the PACT Act after a cloture vote, Toomey expressed his concerns with the language of the bill. He argued that there already was $400 billion allocated in the discretionary spending budget, and that moving it to the mandatory spending budget would be nothing more than a "gimmick" to avoid spending caps. The senator said his amendment to keep the budget under discretionary spending would prevent the potential for "huge excessive spending" in other categories.
"Senator Toomey is asking for a fix to prevent the PACT Act from being used to increase spending completely unrelated to veterans," a spokeswoman for the senator said in a statement provided to Fox News. "As currently written, the PACT Act includes a budget gimmick that will allow Democrats to increase spending totally unrelated to veterans by $400 billion over the next 10 years. Sen. Toomey’s technical fix would prevent this unrelated spending without changing any of the underlying policy in the bill."
Sounds like Toomey is trying to stop wasteful spending shoved into the bill, not trying to deny health care to burn pit victims.
Instead of democrats admitting they're using veterans to piggy back a half a trillion dollars into pork spending and stopping it, they're using dirty tactics with the help of John Stewart, to misdirect everyone

Every single bill has money being pissed away to make the rich richer. $2.2 trillion Covid bill and people got $1200, where'd the rest go?

Don't they know that burn pits are 100% the reason why Joe's brave son Beau contracted a brain tumor and died?
Heartless Republicans!
Frick the clown show.

Hey Buzz where did you go?

That previously authorized spending had been designated as discretionary — that is, subject to yearly congressional appropriations. But the bill, known as the PACT Act, authorizes $280 billion of new mandatory spending — that is, not subject to yearly appropriations — and also converts the prior $400 billion in authorizations from discretionary to mandatory.
That, Toomey first argued last month, amounts to a budget “gimmick” that could facilitate massive amounts of new appropriated spending: “Why would they do a thing like that?” he said in a June 24 floor speech. “The reason is because that way you create a big gaping hole in the discretionary spending category, which can be filled with another $400 billion of totally unrelated spending — who knows on what.”
