You think Cruz was a small-government conservative? That's a good one. He is the true image of the weasly, snake oil salesman, good old boy, baby kissing, idiot that gets in and makes all of the same poor decisions that the rest of them do.

Does limiting your choices on who to vote for and in turn giving every argument a two sided coin decision, sound like a smart thing to you?

That being said, people are just too damn stupid to think for themselves so it would probably turn out more left.

Hey, at least you see through it and are above it ALL. It's remarkable that such a silly dumb board can attract so many such folks.

yep just like obama huh? when he doubles deficit let me know. you think trump has not cut back on some spending? omg. look it up! you also obviously are too dumb to even use the word conservative. i laid it out all pre-election. trump is easily conservative on the vast majority of issues. if he was liberal on one thing that does not make him a liberal overall numbnuts.

you 1 issue crybabies are funny. how about he go conservative on all spending yet libtard on the rest of 20 some issues? idiot

certain things its the governments job like security as that is their first responsibility

Ya I guess we should do what the UK does. That way a bunch of moron beauracrats can start a currency union with our Canadian and South American brethren. What could go wrong. We have the best system because it prevents radical changes most of the time.

Moreso than the rest of the candidates, yes. I'm not going to make some hypothetical declaration of what he would or wouldn't have done because I don't know. I thought Rubio had principles too, so I've been wrong before.

Such as? And name someone that has a legit chance and not some retard like Ron Paul

There’s the problem. Anyone who would want to make massive cuts is going to have to go after the welfare system, and because of the state of identity politics no one will ever have the political capital to make that happen - certainly not the democrats who depend on welfare nor the republicans who would be vilified by the welfare-dependent if they made meaningful moves against it.

The only people who would even think of making a full bore attack on spending would be Ron Paul, and maybe Rand Paul. Not only would that keep them from being elected on the national stage, but that ship would be sunk in Congress before it even weighed anchor. So you can forget about them or someone like them.

Therefore, the best we can reasonably hope for is someone willing to reign in spending growth and make a few smaller moves here and there (like Trump) but they'll need the full support of their party (unlike Trump) to even make those small moves. Trump is just fighting on too many fronts, including his own party, to make much headway; that’s why we see shite like these enormous spending bills.

ETA- That’s why I don’t place much blame for the bills on Trump. I more-so blame the spineless “conservatives” in Congress who care more about their re-election than the future of this country; they’re too chicken shite to fight the democrats and demand spending cuts.

Trump needs a true conservative congress. He has done a lot of conservative things himself imo.

Trump is the perfect leader for this time we are living in. Right now the fight is for the soul of the country and social issues lead the way.

Fiscal issues and the debt will have to eventually be dealt with.

I only see the debt and spending being dealt with once there is significant economic pain inflicted on the American population.

Until that happens, we just need to concentrate on winning elections and curtailing the societal winds that are hell bent on destroying the nation.

All these spend big Republicans who vote for these spending increases will suddenly become fiscally responsible when a Democrat is in the office. Cycle has been happening for 50 years.

I hate the spending as much as the next guy. But, tell me what republican president has cut spending in the last 40 years?

This is more of a republican leadership problem... Cocaine Mitch.

This is a really good point and cannot be stated enough. Now, I wonder, when was the last time a party controlled the House, the Senate, and the Executive branch...??

Let me take a lo.......????

Landmass, you’re absolutely on the right track, unfortunately you’re not allowed to have a civil and thoughtful dissenting discussion about President Trump on this board. You’re never allowed to criticize him or his cabinet. Ever! Understand?!

This board is full of snowflakes and just as bad as the liberal snowflakes they love to make fun of. The irony of it all is palpable.

You are like the "conservative" version of the squad.

No matter how liberal Pelosi is, there is always someone shouting "MOAR!!!"
