Putin is a typical Russian despot who wants imperial conquest. You can parachute anywhere into Ukraine, Georgia or Azerbaijan and ask the people you meet, and they will corroborate exactly what I am telling you. I know because I have done it (less the parachute, of course).
An Azeri laughed at the idea that Russia was just protecting ethnic Russians when they invaded Ukraine. He said Russians have been saying that for hundreds of years whenever they invade their neighbors which is frequently.

Qualified refinery workers are leaving the threatened areas. Russia is begging, borrowing, or stealing munitions from Iran, China, and North Korea. America just underwrote Ukraine for another year are so. To fight for another year he will have to draft another three to five hundred thousand young men. He’s already tapped out the men of the conquered provenances, the prisons, miscellaneous volunteers, mercenaries, and Asiatic Russia. Therefore more European Russians will be taken, and that promises potential unrest.
Etc., etc., etc.!
Yep, not only has he never wanted to threaten any other neighbors, he never desired to bed hot young women or find the elexier of perpetual youth.

Today, U.S. tactical nuclear weapons remain at six bases in five NATO member countries, Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Turkey. The UK and France have their own nuclear forces and no longer host U.S. weapons.
No nukes were moved East after the fall of the USSR! Not to Poland, Estonian, Latvia, Lithuania, nor will they go into Sweden or Finland. And they would not go into Ukraine if they were accepted into NATO!
Thousands of nuclear arms had been left on Ukrainian soil by Moscow after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. For a time, the Ukrainians had the third largest nuclear arsenal on the planet! But in the years that followed, Ukraine made the decision to completely denuclearize.
In exchange, the U.S., the U.K. and Russia would guarantee Ukraine's security in a 1994 agreement known as the Budapest Memorandum.
Who broke this agreement?
The U.S.? No
The U.K.? No
NATO? No
