He’s talking about potential otherworldly technology and his first thought is religion.

Hypothetically, probably, but I’m not making that leap yet. Doing that on purpose would be a huge stain on our military

Yes they do.

But I will always be in the "government is bullshitting us" camp. They've earned a lifetime of mistrust.

Okay read my lips. My government lies, has lied, and will lie to me in the future. Institutional lying is an accepted instrument that corrupt governments use to direct attention away from their corrupt activities.

Like I said. Show me. As long as I can remember folks have reported sightings of "alien ships" and little green men with huge heads, huge eyes, and skinny bodies.

If that is your starting point, it seems you are a bit late entering the race.

Look, I am an agnostic when it comes to alien intelligence so I don’t discount any of the eyewitness accounts of these pilots who seem very credible in their description of these unexplained anomalies and phenomena. Yet on the same token, I am wholly suspicious of anything put forth by our wholly corrupted national security apparatus.

The same establishment mouthpieces that for decades relegated any talk of UFOs to the realm of the lunatic fringe now is suddenly encouraging such speculation? Color me suspicious.

I’ll never understand why people want to believe in aliens.

Listening to the interview, it didn't seem like that was his first thought. Alien tech zooming around our planet is an existential threat to humanity. They would in theory be capable of positioning themselves as Gods to us and religion is a big part of humanity's culture so yeah thats a big deal.

The "phenomena", (s), are real IMHO. This inforamtion has been building for quite some time and is getting harder to deny.

What our government is trying to do is manage the information for 2 reasons.
1- unravel themselves from their lies, so they can claim some ignorance, to save face.
2- Give enough info to partially satiate the masses and claim it is a threat we need to be protected from.

Or, something along those lines.

Why won’t it surprise me that when the aliens finally speak publicly, they’ll regurgitate almost verbatim, leftist talking points!

yI would suggest looking up Mick West on youtube. He is a skeptic but he does fairly extensive interviews with Lue Elizondo, PJ Hughes, Kevin Day, Tim McMillan, Gary Vorhis. They talk about the data they were seeing and how the systems work. Its pretty compelling stuff.

I guess my question would be if our government considers it a threat and presents it to the public as a threat then woildnt they will have to be able to present an ability to defend against it or people will panic? I think the threat analysis will be debated but there will not be a public declaration of any danger.
