That is quite true.

Pope seems OK to me as a person and I'm sure he is not a moron, but, I strongly suspect that he is on the political Left, and I do hate Leftist political positions and doctrines, because I'm convinced that Leftism will trigger a world wide catastrophe.

Why don't you read his remarks, instead of the inflammatory headline:

quote:

"Dear brothers and sisters, we cannot believe in Jesus and promote war. We cannot believe in Jesus and kill the innocent," Leo said in his homily. "We cannot believe in Jesus and abandon those who suffer, those who weep, those who flee from misery."

0% wrong with anything Pope Leo says here. Precisely zero.

The problem is the following:

1) The Vatican seems to make it a sport now, with the last two popes, in trying to make grand, philosophical statements knowing that...

2) The other sport being played is that every single word is used, mischaracterized by the media and it's minions - anyone wanting to stoke the fires of disagreement - that is uttered by anyone Catholic to make some point, point out some inaccuracy, or just get a "win," whatever that means.

To use the threat of violence as an outward means to an end, is not Christian. Period. To react with violence when provoked is a different thing. (I think this is what the Pope is referencing, just my guess, that promoting war to bully someone into submission is not Christian, is wrong. And - it is).

Now, as someone who realizes the world is not safe, the terms are not equal, and that bullies exist I can understand that these things need to happen. That a line must be crossed sometimes, as much as we don't want it to be.

I can both listen and understand the Pope's point, and believe it, while understanding that unfortunately, it's necessary - and I can try to move the world toward a point where it isn't.

But I can also believe, 100%, that the Pope cannot stand there and say the opposite. Or justify violence and war. He is speaking from an ideal, he is speaking from hope, he is speaking from being removed from those needs and just trying to articulate what we should aim for, not what is.

Here in the U.S. it is generally accepted that a POTUS' political positions are , more than likely, an accumulation of his ( not her yet ) staff of advisors' opinions. biden took this dynamic to the extreme. Does the Pope make, and promote, his opinions the same way?

This is it and all of it.
Any organization who always has members that long dicks little boys, and has a documented history of protecting the offenders has no moral high ground.
If they burn them at the vatican for 200 years they may earn a shread of credibility.
If your catholic at this point you condone child rape at this point.
Its not even close.
Your collection dollars have either funded or protected a child rapist.
You can worship and be a Christian elsewhere.
Disgusting.

Why should I listen to you about "dogma" and "evidence" when you believe that Jesus wasn't a real, historical person, in spite of the evidence, and how you believe early Christians taught that Jesus was created from the literal sperm of David.

While you are busy spouting nonsense about the earth being 6000 years old or dinosaurs on the mythical Noah’s ark, you could be learning something about the Persian religion and the Persian emperor Cyrus and his agents Ezra and Zerubabbel who built the new temple in Jerusalem and installed the new temple authorities.

The Coming of Saoshyant
quote:

This passage discusses the events that will occur at the end of the current age, when the conquering of Angra Mainyu will begin to take place. Zoroastrians believe that an individual, called the “Saoshyant,” will usher in this era and lead the battle against Angra Mainyu. The Saoshyant is a savior-figure who will be born of a virgin, which the text calls “Gobakabu”. The text talks about her lineage and how she is a descendant of certain individuals. This is important for Zoroastrians because they believe that the Saoshyant will be a descendant of Zarathustra, the original prophet of Zoroastrianism. This text tells the story of how she will bathe in a lake and become impregnated with the seed of Zarathustra, which has been kept intact for thousands of years by angels. Then she will give birth to the Saoshyant.

Amazing how you seem to have no self awareness, and you will see no similarities whatsoever between the Saoshyant and Jesus.

You got me. There is no way that Christianity didn’t come directly from Zoroastrianism because of those few similarities. I’m going to stop being a Christian now.

Actually, what if we are both wrong and it came from an early Snow White narrative? Both Snow White and Jesus were allegedly of royal lineage. Both were born in fulfillment of prophecies. Both were persecuted by a powerful enemy who sought their death. Both appeared to die and were laid in a resting place. Both were miraculously restored to life. Both resurrections resulted in a new era of joy and celebration. Both stories involve the triumph of good over evil. Both had a small, dedicated group of followers who lived with them, witnessed their apparent death, and were present at their restoration to life. On and on the similarities go, and since Jesus clearly wasn’t a historical figure, it’s plausible if not likely that He originated from a proto-Snow White narrative that was clearly silenced by Jesus followers until it was rediscovered by the Brothers Grimm.

It’s not how stories are similar but how they are different. The critical aspects of Christianity are very dissimilar from Zoroastrianism and all other ancient fables and myths.

IMHO Pope Leo isn't going to grow the RCC inside the USA with that approach. In fact, he will probably cause harm to the RCC in the USA with that approach.

Everything you have posted is technically correct but you seem to be unaware that Leo is actively and intentionally undermining the Catholic faith.
1. He is about to excommunicate the SSPX (old school Catholics)
He exiles the most orthodox bishops.and promotes the ones who promote sexual deviancy.
While allowing heresy to flourish unrestrained all over the Catholic world.
He actively promotes known unrepentant heretics that openly and proudly pervert the faith.

Leo is not some naive left leaning do gooder. He is a subversive infiltrator who is actively changing the faith.

Pope Leo is not just some hedonistic worldly pope. He is far worse.

I continue to be amazed at people who follow and practice a religion that is run by degenerate homosexuals. I couldn’t care less what some homosexual fig and his merry band of homosexual underlings (Cardinals) think.

Did you still believe and follow the constitution and trust in Americas founders when Biden was President?
Or did you still believe and fight for the truth?

The Constitution doesn’t require implicit faith in its leaders. It also is capable of reform from the bottom up, while the RCC teaches an infallible Magisterium that is incapable of reform in principle. The RCC also teaches that the lay person is incapable of knowing and understanding the Bible adequately and that the same group that needs to be reformed are the only ones with the authority and ability to read the Bible and use Tradition to understand how to and enact reform.

The religion of the Persian emperor who built the Jewish temple in Jerusalem included the foundational belief that their savior would come as a future event and would be born of a virgin and made from the sperm of a long dead religious hero and would defeat death and evil.

You, a buffoon who holds the earth is 6,000 years old and just a few thousand years ago, a dude and a few family members built a floating barge and put dinosaurs on it, want to try to talk shite because I said it is plausible that the early Christians believed Jesus’ body could have been made literally of the sperm or David. There was even a Christian gospel of Jesus Christ - the ascension of Isaiah - which stated just that. There’s no end to your stupidity or hypocrisy. (Some) early Christians literally believed God fabricated a body for Jesus and built it from the sperm of David. Did all Christians believe that? Maybe, maybe not. You don’t know and I don’t know.

It’s not coincidental similarities from Zoroastrianism to Judaism and Christianity. You’re in denial.

Rich, coming from you.

A bunch of followers of Joseph Smith wrote witness affidavits that they had seen the magical golden plates given to smith by the angel Moroni. How can you dismiss those others as legends and myths but your myths aren’t myths but historical events? It’s because you’re disingenuous or a hypocrite or both.
