re: Politics aside, who's the worst Governor Louisiana has ever had?

Unsurprisingly you’ll get a lot of partisan answers saying JBE or EWE. And they had their negatives too without a shadow of a doubt.

But Jindal is the real answer. Landry is trying hard to take the title though. Especially with ending the mid barataria diversion, may have the biggest long term impact on this state.

Pushing for and vetoing a bill that has zero impact on the life of almost all of the populace of Louisiana are two different things. And this is clearly a partisan issue.

To be clear I’m not pro trans in girls sports. But let’s be real here…this doesn’t impact the quality of life in the state by any measurable amount. The state almost going bankrupt under Jindal does though.

This is what most people fail to understand. Huey Long didn't rise from a vacuum. The coalition of New Orleans Old Regulars, North Louisiana planters and Standard Oil had a stranglehold on the state. Nothing got done unless it benefited them directly. There was no bridge over the Mississippi River in Louisiana before Huey Long and almost no paved roads outside the cities. Farmers couldn't bring their crops to market, there were no hospitals to go to when they were sick, and they had to pay for their children's schoolbooks when there were schools at all.

Long was absolutely corrupt, but so were his predecessors. Long at least saw to it that the common man got some benefits, for the first time in the history of the state.

Criticize him for his faults, which were many. But worst governor? No.

Jindal would have absolutely shined after Katrina. That guy could rattle off statistics and get info out like no other. Blanco just came off as a bumbling idiot. Swap the timeframes of their administrations and they would probably both be highly thought of.

In recent history EWE, Blanco and JBE are the worst.

If Jindal had put the same effort into his second term as he did the first, he would have been a good Governor. Instead he launched a presidential bid. Overnight he went from nerdy but earnest policy wonk to just another politician on the make.

Ironically if he actually had strung together two successful terms, it would have put him in decent position to be a presidential contender. His ambition wouldn't let him wait that long.

Leave the statue alone.

Louisiana wouldn't be as well off if he hadn't been Governor.

My dad was one of the most honest men i ever knew and sometimes too honest. Where i am from a guy running for La. Senate got ill close to the end of the campaign and had to drop out.

They came to my dad and asked him to run just to have a candidate a week and a half before election.. He had some flyers saying his name and The Listener in quotation marks. Me and my brother both saw the flyer at the same time and started laughing. He just looked at us funny.

Me and my Brother told him you've been in politics 5 minutes and your already lying. We told him he had never listened to anyone in his life. He started laughing.

Dont try to change the past. Learn from the mistakes and try to do better.
