The last guy was a token DEI pick who moved from the General staff to defense companies to the Pentagon. He was a disastrous pick. He didn’t show up for a week and no one knew where he went.

So what? So, as long as he’s not as bad as that useless piece of shite, you feel good about this?

I’m not sure. He seems like he has the potential to become a warhawk.

I’m not sure he’s qualified either.

This is one of the positions you can’t fake or be given time to learn on the job because you’re a loyal yes-man.

I think there are several better men for this position.

Are we saying this is a positive character attribute now?

Unless Jesus Christ was willing to volunteer for Sec Def, anyone chosen would have baggage. We all do.

For sure. He started his career at Fox justifying the Iraq surge (and he was right, btw).

Guys in general you mean. And I’m happily married in a monogamous relationship, thanks.

No one was talking about you but apparently you got defensive anyway. Jeez.

As I said, I have mixed feelings.

Highly doubtful. I've heard him say that he feels our troops have been used as pawns in stupid foreign wars.

I'm not sure either, as I mentioned that he has no executive experience.

Maybe.

Probably. Probably at least one woman, too.

Michael Tracey is blowing up the pick somewhat. I guess Hegseth has evolved on Ukraine. I don't like the biblical BS on Israel.

As long as he shitcans the fricking woke leadership of our military I’ll be happy.

Basically anyone in the Pentagon now. I hope Hegseth knows who the pieces of shite are in the Pentagon or has contacts still in the military who can help root them out.

Accepting faults and celebrating them are very different.

Somewhat similar to Rubio.

Rubio was gung ho for war in Ukraine and voted for the first few big billions.

He voted against the last big one in April this year and called foreign aid "a waste" and "extortion."

So these two have kind of spun a weaving path. There is a Neocon twinge to them that is disconcerting. I think they have probably become disillusioned with Neocons as they see how perverse and corrupt the ideology is in recent real time.

Then again, Rubio could just be a two faced political whore and Hegseth could just be an opportunist whore who will say anything.

I'm not sure I would be worse than Austin. Highest rank I achieved in 4 years as a Navy Corpsman was E-4.
