Well, I just read the OP and posted, OB...so if Trump goes with Pete he must have been vetted. He always seemed sincere, but the Fox election debacle just taints anybody that didn't jump that ship out of honor.

People forget too. These cabinet picks don’t just get to make their own decisions. They take direction from Trump and execute that direction.

The president gives general direction to the various agencies for the most part. There are not enough hours in the day for him to manage, let alone micro manage. It is important the people he puts at the head of these departments have the same philosophy and goal as he does.

Pretty sure he and Hegseth will be on the same page. I'm just concerned about experience. As long as he surrounds himself with the right people Hegseth should do well.

What’s your fricking problem with officer shithead? I was an infantry officer in the Marines and the bullshite you are spewing sounds like a pogue LCpl in a logistical unit that never saw any action! I took care of my Marines and they took care of me, so take your disgruntled shite talking some other place!

To be fair, he specifically said officers who play politics.

I'm sure you were not one of those.

Before people say he’s unqualified think about any government job. You wanna be top level like SoD, you need vision and the ability to lead and delegate. This guy can get in there and be a leader. He has the chief of staffs and top brass to craft the battle plans. Trump makes the final call. He’s a non-traditional pick but will carry out the mission without MIC or swamp interference.

Valid concern. I think Trump is valuing loyalty as #1 with a lot of these picks. So much of his cabinet stabbed him in the back first term.

Better than getting a "Deputy Secretary under Bush" retread.

Frankly, after the Kavanaugh fiasco, no one will ever take allegations of sexual improprieties seriously again.

You do you bud. Celebrating affairs is certainly a choice.

That was all the way back in 2012.

Kristol pushing a combat vet for Senate would be normal back then.

If the media wants to make an issue of his affairs, his response should be "a soldier who won't frick, won't fight. Next question..."
