But is the exponent less than one or greater than one. Define exponentially.

Yup.

the only problem if this turns out to be a complete dud is that we will 100% be fricked when a legit contagious bird flu or SARS hits

That’s just not true. Flights, cruises - fuel demand also dropped as a result. Restaurants, particularly ones that make their money around professional sports, or certain events/festivals.

It's temporary. The demand is still there, people are just in wait and see mode. They want to do these things, they aren't rushing the banks and trying to hoard cash. That would be worrisome.

The real problem I see in this one is that even for a fricking disease, you can't get Democrats to act in ANYTHING but a manner which pushes them towards power.

On shite like this, we need to have leaders from both sides up there trying to instill calm to the point that when they actually say shite needs to happen, it can be fricking slightly credible.

But noooooo. We are literally in a "boy who cried wolf" world and one day, the wolf might actually be there.

Um.

How many people are NOT making money right now?

THEIR demand isn't "still there"

anyone who doesn't admit the MSM has been completely partisan, to the point of hurting the public, is a lost cause

ALL THEY HAD TO DO is say "wash your hands. if you have these 4-5 issues, quarantine yourself as much as possible. if you exhibit symptoms, isolate yourself. ONLY go to the ER if you are having major complications similar to pneumonia." THAT'S IT.

but no, they riled up people so much they're hoarding items that literally have nothing to do with COVID-19 (TP, primarily)

This sounds like fake news.

Here in Louisiana at least it’s 37% positive

People who aren't making money right now weren't going to be taking flights or cruises anyway. The people who were are just waiting for the all clear. Like I said, it's temporary.

SFP, you have nearly every single progressive on this site making that claim.

Here is mmcgrath’s statement from another thread:

It is not the media's fault for this panic buying. I fail to remember any media report telling anyone to stock up on toilet paper and bottled water. That is some stupid facebook chain email type stuff.
They truly believe that the media has been impartial in this.

I heard that from my brother.

Maybe it's 98% overall or their figures were wrong. They could be

Well, they instituted quarantine on the ship pretty early on.
They were not quarantined for the first part of the cruise. During that time the passengers mingled freely.

After 2 weeks cruising, one of the passengers, who had gotten off the ship in Hong Kong, became symptomatic for COVID-19. He was tested and found positive. Only at that point were passengers restricted to their cabins and the ship returned to Japan and put under quarantine in Yokohama.

Yet only 1/3 have developed COVID-19.

Looks like Lousiana wins again. Advocate says 77/210 tested are positive.

Over 30%. Yikes. I get it's a low sample, but it looks like they clearly are screening/testing the "right people", i.e. they are testing those who have it.

Initial jump was even more scary, it went from 37/108 to 67/142. That was a big string of positives in a row, and it's since tapered off again.

Louisiana needs to be as open and honest about this as possible: who, and where. It's one thing to have a nursing home surge, it's another for a dozen or so to be younger, healthy people who all they had in common was- Mardi Gras.

Does this mean the second test done after the preliminary positive or the preliminaries are 98% negative.
