I always thought that the media was quick to call priests caught with teenage boys pedophiles rather than the more accurate moniker, gay man. Not that pedophile was inaccurate but it always seemed like it was a way to avoid the word gay when reporting on inappropriate sexual behavior.
Straight men caught with teenage girls are usually called deviants and preditors and not pedophiles by the media. Even though it is pedophilia in every sense.

I think what's important is that the behavior that is being referenced (whether semantically acurate or not) is clear. Too often, people use semantics arguments as a veiled defense of the behavior.
If your think a 50 year old man screwing around with a 14 year old is VERY wrong, does the terminology change that?

Because of people like you that can’t be bothered to expand your vocabulary, when someone is labeled a pedophile most people assume they fricked a high school girl, or possibly even got caught up in some BS technicality because they turned 18/19 their senior year and fricked a freshman chick who’s dad pressed charges.
