It’s worse than that.
The more kids that qualify for free or reduced lunch means the more federal dollars the school gets. Not just for lunch.

I remember my father telling me it is exactly what he learned in college in late 70's. The Welfare program would spit out dependent societal groups that ultimately pressure the whole.

Not really.
If school lunches count in this as welfare, then that means the numbers drop for every race if you remove it, and blacks and hispanics are still well in the lead.

It's not even a matter of choice. By the time 3rd generation from now rolls around, the US will be long bankrupt and the dollar will be defunct. This has to stop, and reverse, ASAP. It's a matter of survival for the country.

The other possibility is that a lower percentage ever manage to move to higher income levels. Working at low wage jobs qualifies you for welfare in this country. Which is why illegal immigration is a net drain on govt finances. They don't pay enough taxes to offset the cost of dependency.

The small text in the chart says that this includes Medicaid, which makes this thread title misleading. The general perception of welfare is food stamps and Section 8.
