Why should I care about global supplies? The US refines more than enough for domestic supply. If there is a fuel "crisis" then maybe stop selling it overseas.

Trump has indirectly reinforced that the entire world needs to go to other energy alternatives. He's helping Democrats out. few things will be on future agendas:
full domestic refinement of our crude which we produce more than we consume daily
reduce our oil on the world market
move to greener initiatives like China in case something like this does happen. at the very least you help reduce a problem over there when nobody cares about oil anymore.

Natural gas prices in the US are $2.87 per MBTU. Not much different than when I retired from the oil business eleven years ago. The cost of generating electricity is low in the US relative to oil prices.

That doesn't mean it was a bad decision to purchase an EV. We're basically drowning in natural gas which is the biggest portion of our grid. Depending on your personal situation an EV can make sense.
