We make a "deal". Move assets, out of the region, Iran blows us off, rebuild missile facilities, restart their nuke program, and we're back to square 1.

Hope that doesn't happen. Would be bad for the world, the region and the locals who will have it even worse with no weapons to fight back.

It could be even worse than that. Because of the "20 point plan" and the Board of Peace Trump has bound future administrations to ensuring the security in Gaza. To date, only two of the ten nations who pledged funding for the BoP have contributed anything at all. That agreement shackles us and the other nations who have yet to provide anything in the way of funding to the security of "terror free zones" in Gaza. We're already $10 billion in and are now pretty much obligated to provide security for hell......all sides that will, undoubtedly, be fighting in the future.

The Jews are right in trying to shore up their borders and defense while they can, because the foundation of this "peace" is shakey at best, and nonexistent at worst.

Yeppers...so much for being at war for 47 years and all the Americans the Iranians have killed. If DJT allows this regime to remain - while giving the Iranian peoples a false hope - shame on him and I will stand on the neutral ground rather than be found in anyone's band wagon....

This is the singular defining moment of his presidency. Nothing really matters if he gets this one wrong. The only positive thing I would give Iran is a reduction in sanctions but only if there is complete disarmament of nuclear facilities and aspirations and free and open straight of Hormuz. The US must have people on the ground to run the disarmament program and remain on ground in Iran for the foreseeable future.

Listening to Trump, seems like it’s still up in the air, like just a lot of bluster to get them to capitulate, but next 24 hours will determine the outcome. Looks like he’s giving them to tomorrow at 8 pm

U.S., Iran to announce peace deal within 24 hours: Washington Times

And yet:
quote:

Parliament speaker and Iran’s top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf told Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir during talks in Tehran on Saturday, May 23, that the US was not an honest party in negotiations, state television reported. Ghalibaf said Iran would pursue its "legitimate rights," ?both on the battlefield and through diplomacy, but added that it could not trust "a party that has no honesty at all," an allegation Iran has made several times ?before.
quote:

He said Iran's armed forces had rebuilt their capabilities during the ceasefire and that, if the United States "foolishly restarts the war," the consequences would be "more forceful and bitter" than at the start of the conflict.

So who are we "negotiating" with? It doesn't sound like this guy.

Why? Any deal with the IRGC is irrelevant. Any agreements will be broken. When they are broken I expect we will pretend they have not been broken. Allowing the IRGC to continue means the IRGC gets the win.

I will stand on what I have always said. IF Trump knuckles under and quits then he is a stupid arse idiot.

but

If he doesn't drop a single bomb going forward but we topple the IRGC from within via coup and uprising of the people then it was the best option going forward.

My pipe dream is that there is a ton of shite going on behind the scenes that we are working on to do one or all of the things below:
a. strike a deal with member of the military and or IRGC to revolt.
b. setting up an insurgency within the Iranian borders.
c. buying time to all the IRGC to grow weary (not their leaders) as well as the paid mercenaries from foreign countries that there right now.
d. coerce our allies to actual take a role in the fight.
e. Allow time for Lebanon to play out so that Israel is not fighting on multiple fronts. (pick off each group (Houthies, Hezbollah, IRGC, IRAQ factions etc)

Screw him or genius. I have no idea. We will all find out at a the same time.

Obi-Won Netanyahu, you're our only hope. Seriously. Netanyahu spent his formative years as an Israeli commando who personally participated in one of the most daring raids (Entebbe) in history. Israel showed it can bomb Iran alone last summer, and they need to take our their power plants and refineries alone if we refuse to.There's overwhelming political support in Israel to do just that.

It's become clear that Trump's a deal-maker at heart, not a fighter. We need a wartime consiglieri to take down Iran.

To Trump’s credit, he’s bypassing our traditional decades long war before arriving back to square one.

I tend to agree. The hard line they have taken with nukes isn’t going to change no matter what they agree to. If regime change can’t be accomplished at this time then there really is no other solution then back away and hope for the best. I don’t think this war was completely pointless but its lasting effects will be what truly judges that.

Not sure what a "snakes and ladders game" is, but if it torpedoes this crap deal I'm all for it.

Could it be that 95% of the people doing the talking on Xwitter have already proven to not know what they're talking about?

DJT continuing the Great American Tradition of gassing up some nation's people to fight a battle that benefits the US, get killed for it, and we lose interest and leave them high and dry.

Prediction: Iran keeps the uranium and agrees not to pursue nukes and gets some type of control over Hormuz. Trump claims a yuge victory.
