The U.S. and Iran are expected to announce the finalization of a peace deal to end the fighting on all fronts by Sunday afternoon, a source close to the negotiations told The Washington Times. A draft proposal was agreed to early Saturday and expected to be announced within 24 hours, the source said. Top negotiators, including Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalifbaf, Vice President J.D. Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, have approved the draft. The draft version of the peace deal has been sent to leaders of both nations for final approval. If successful, the deal would transform what has been a fragile six-week truce into a permanent peace, even as Mr. Trump has hinted fresh strikes would be possible. Details of the potential ceasefire agreement remain elusive. It’s unclear how key differences, including the fate of Iran’s nuclear program and its request for sanctions relief, will be resolved. The two sides also need to agree on how to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which has been largely shuttered since the war started on Feb. 28. Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir held talks in Iran to narrow the differences between the U.S. and Iran after weeks of war left the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for moving goods out of the Middle East, closed to most shipping. About 20% of the world’s oil moves through the strait, and its closure has upended global energy markets. A Qatari delegation arrived in Tehran as part of the last diplomatic engagements to push the finalized deal across the finish line.

Pretty skeptical about this report- no details and a "source close to the negotiations" as the source. Probably some Pakistani with an agenda. How can you have a deal if we are publicly demanding the nuclear dust and no tolls and they are publicly saying no nuclear dust and they get to collect tolls?

Have a very hard time believing we'd agree to what's being put out there so guess we will have to wait and see

No matter what the parties "think" they might agree to now, the chances of it holding seem pretty slim to me. Iran isn't going to be able to resist trying to humiliate the US in implementing any Strait of Hormuz arrangement, and Trump's base isn't going to sit and accept any such humiliation.

I just hope Trump doesn't try to insult our intelligence by saying something like "we don't need the nuclear dust- we've got the best satellites in the world watching them" line. He's used that line before, but that dog won't hunt, most certainly not in the eyes of history.

You can probably already write the speech and soundbites now

"A deal they said was impossible, a deal that nobody has ever seen before"

Trump is about to make a horrific fricking deal because he’s scared of what he got himself into. How embarrassing.

Trump is dead to me if he takes it up the arse because he was too scared to do what was necessary.

Yep. If he takes this deal as reported he might as well mail it in the next three years.

It's becoming increasingly clear that this pending disaster is real. I feel sick.

Then Trump deserves to be pushed off the island. Might as well stuck with the Obama deal.

I’m borderline actually mad at the idiot.

It’s hard to believe but Iran may actually come out better in a better position from this deal than they were before the war.

We make a "deal". Move assets, out of the region, Iran blows us off, rebuild missile facilities, restart their nuke program, and we're back to square 1.

Hope that doesn't happen. Would be bad for the world, the region and the locals who will have it even worse with no weapons to fight back.

Hermit kingdom mid east style.

Highly doubt the Israelis will abide by any of it.

Just so long as Israel gets to keep the land it has taken from Lebanon during this conflict, I’m good with any capitulation to end the war.

Not liking this, just wait Trump out and rebuild the program, or extort the next President. Back to square one..

I’m trying my best to reserve judgement but Trump would go from baller to b**** pretty quickly on foreign policy if he agrees to this nonsense.

He already took a step down by negotiating.

You don’t enter a blood pact with the Israelis to only do a half measure. You should have seen it through.
