surrounding parishes, you can see that there is actual industry going on there. The place is booming relative to N.O. It has easily passed N.O. in population, employment and GDP. If there is an "economic engine" in Louisiana its B.R., not N.O., - a declining city.

I read recently that Ascension Parish had the largest concentration of wealth in the state. Which would support that.

Incidentally, the GDP numbers for Orleans parish are 30 billion- East Baton Rouge parish is 47 billion - more than 50% higher. Some "economic engine".

Mind sharing the source? Genuinely interested

Landry vetoed $33 MM the State Legislature appropriated to New Orleans despite the state having a budget surplus of nearly $600 MM last year and almost $300 MM so far in this year.

I’m just watching the circus like everyone else.

That does not make any sense. How can a judge appoint a SP?

If you are correct than laws need to change

Just like John Bel and every other governor in LA history which you should know. John Bel vetoed way more Republican projects.

The rogue special prosecutor was appointed by the DA, and the JDC is a political subdivision of the state, not the city.

This might make sense if every elected official in the municipality wasn’t giddy as a schoolgirl about the whole disastrous deal.

If New Orleans really is “the economic engine of the state” why does it need a state handout?

Why is New Orleans requesting some of the tax dollars is supplied to the state? Hmmm can you come up with any possible reasons the city might make that request?

Moreno was chair of the New Orleans City Council's Budget Committee during her tenure on the council. She played a lot of dirty political games and definitely contributed to this mess the City is in.

Every parish pays taxes to the state. Orleans is entitled to refunds? You really are ignorant of just about everything. Lay off the sauce.

Maybe that’s all the more reason she shouldn’t have picked this fight with the state.

Refunds? Do you think every tax dollars stays at the state capitol indefinitely?

What are you talking about? You are saying N.O. shouldn't have to pay taxes like every other Parish?
Just curious what are you drinking tonight?

In what way? Does she not have immunity as the chief lawyer for the state to give legal advice to elected officials about her interpretation of a newly-enacted law?
