Cubbies is saying it’s time for New Orleans to secede even though it hasn’t had economic momentum in ten years and has a declining population

Yet it is still the economic engine of the whole state.

She didn't actively try to sabotage the city.

No, but sabotaging the city was a direct effect of her theft, negligence, incompetence, etc.

How are you saying Moreno is sabotaging the city? I’m not disagreeing, but it’s the first time I’ve heard that.

It’ll be like pulling teeth to get a leftist mayor and city council to make budget cuts. I’d bet at some point that no budget gets passed because they’re paralyzed over cuts.

It's not the engine it is the engineers that are screwing everything up.

Allowing an indictment of the AG actively antagonizes the state officials at a time when N.O. is in desperate straits. Moreno cancels the bond hearing because after the indictment, nobody is going to give N.O.money. That's actively sabotaging your own best interests.

Why is the "economic engine" of the state constantly begging the state for $$$$$?

I’ve seen you say this numerous times - can you explain or back this up with actual numbers?

Well, not like the state doesn’t ask for $25B a year from the fed

That is currently not true. The 10 parishes of the Greater New Orleans area (of these 10 parishes Orleans is roughly 30% of the regional GDP) and the Baton Rouge Area are about equal as economic engines for the state.

Right, wrong, or indifferent I’m an Orleans Parish snob and think it’s the best place to live in the state warts and all. But we have to honest about the political/economic clout the city actuallly has.

At one point in time the “isle of Orleans” had the power to flout the state even under Governor Long. We need to face the facts that we have killed that particular golden goose.

Which parish do you believe contributes the most economically to the state?

Cubbies doesn’t strike me as someone who will let actual facts get in the way of an opinion she’s emotionally invested in.

Incidentally, the GDP numbers for Orleans parish are 30 billion- East Baton Rouge parish is 47 billion - more than 50% higher. Some "economic engine".

Can you back up your facially and demonstrably false claim that New Orleans is the “economic engine” of the state with anything other than feels?

If you have recently been in Baton rouge and its surrounding parishes, you can see that there is actual industry going on there. The place is booming relative to N.O. It has easily passed N.O. in population, employment and GDP. If there is an "economic engine" in Louisiana its B.R., not N.O., - a declining city.
