It’s a mistake. A lot of the people getting evicted weren’t going to vote for Trump either way. He’s just pissing off people who are going to vote for him.

It sure craps on the narrative that Republicans are all rich and don't care about people who are struggling.

You're correct, but it's strategic and temporary.

No but it is bad policy. Unfair to landlords.

Awful policy. How can you force me, if I’m a landlord, to foot the bills for someone else?

How are landlords going to recoup this money from a bunch of deadbeats?

Does this mean I can just stop paying rent now?

They are working on helping them out too. Give it time.

I think your wrong. Obviously, some people will take advantage of this but most people don't want to see someone being negatively impacted by retarded COVID19 restrictions thrown out on the street. Regardless of who they will vote for in Nov.

He is trying to buy votes, but has lost mine this round. Tired of being shat on for working hard and building my family a financially stable future.

It’s a lose lose policy for him. If ppl get evicted and have to go to shelters or live with family it adds to the risk of spread, but at the same time property owners won’t be happy.

Landlords may be angry (understandably so), but they aren’t stupid. They know this is temporary. Additionally, they know that if Biden is elected, this will probably become permanent. They will still be voting for Trump in November.

Land lords will probably be keen enough to the concept that if they can bear down for a short while longer, it will be of much more benefit to them beyond that. Their properties can't be foreclosed upon either, and it's quite reasonable to suspect that Trump will come through for them before it's all said and done.

It's sanctioned theft of landlords.

Fewer people will place their capital into rental properties......then in 2 years the left will be up in arms about the lack of rental properties.

There are policies in place for landlords so to defers mortgage payment so they shouldn’t be losing any money if they are smart

Landlords and bankers will be held whole.

(c) The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development shall take action, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law, to promote the ability of renters and homeowners to avoid eviction or foreclosure resulting from financial hardships caused by COVID-19. Such action may include encouraging and providing assistance to public housing authorities, affordable housing owners, landlords, and recipients of Federal grant funds in minimizing evictions and foreclosures.
