Is Newsweek still a thing?

And if you are as old as me you'll recall when publications like Newsweek mocked GOP politicians for expressing concerns about violent lyrics in rap music in the last millennium.

And for what it's worth, I think that song sucks. Has nothing to do with politics.

Exactly.

And many more songs glorifying literal murder and gun violence of a certain genre.

But in Clown world, it’s a random Jason Aldean song that’s the “problem”

Is the song really about guns? Because the word "gun" doesn't appear in the quoted lyrics.

From reading the lyrics, I suppose it’s implied

Anything that causes libs to cry I’m for. That’s really the only reason I want Trump to win. They would probably start some violent shite and it will be glorious to watch.

Now go examine the lyrics of every popular rapper out there and tell me how “scary” they are.

Jason Aldean is a no talent hack and is a lingering reminder of the bro country movement. That being said, he seems to have his head on straight with respect to American values.

I never heard the song but will listen to it now. It’s kind of amazing how this stuff plays out with the media. Like the Sound of Freedom hit pieces. The initial hits come out then here come all the tentacles attacking Mel Gibson etc again. Last week the hit piece on Luke Combs covering a song comes out and here comes the spread this week

“Gun violence?”. All he says about guns is that DC best not try to take his grandpa’s gun.

The rest of the lyrics are more consistent with a bunch of local good ol’ boys beating the crap out of trouble-making outsiders.

It is always fun to watch soft, smooth-brain extremists read things into words that simply are not there.

Of all the current country acts I’d say he is one of the better ones. He puts on a heck a show and definitely makes his political views clear. I hope he has much continued success.

A bit unfair. At any given time, country music has three or four deep, talented performers and a few dozen entertaining, serviceable acts. Aldean is the latter

Not everyone can be Townes van Zandt or Lucinda Williams.

Again, Aldean is bro country. He and his ilk have brought the genre down over the last few decades starting wilh Garth Brooks. Mainstream country used to be artists such as Straight and Jackson. That being said, I do agree with Aldean's stance,
