Newsweek
First off, I’ve never heard this song.
Second, I don’t listen to Aldean or endorse him.
I simply find it strange that Newsweek picks this song, claiming it promotes gun violence, but are silent on umpteen rap songs that glamorize gun violence and talk about popping a cap in someone.
Could it be that Newsweek has more problems with small town values than anything else?

Country music singer Jason Aldean has sparked controversy over lyrics in his new song that seem to promote gun violence. The song tells a story of the difference between city life and living in a small town, specifically, if someone there "cross[es] that line," to "cuss out a cop, spit in his face" or "stomp on the flag and light it up," to "try that in a small town." The lyrics continue: "See how far ya make it down the road/Around here, we take care of our own/You cross that line, it won't take long/ For you to find out, I recommend you don't/Try that in a small town." Blogger Leigh Love tweeted: "Jason Aldean's new song, 'Try That In A Small Town' is not only reminding people that sun down towns exists, but that he loves them. Don't even listen or watch to give him the views, but read the very scary lyrics. It's like he forgot about the January 6 insurrection.

“Don’t come to our town and commit crime” is somehow an objectionable stance.
Honk honk

Is this a follow up to their article about gun violence in rap music, or can we expect that article next?

They seem to be framing it as worse because he was on stage during the Las Vegas shooting but that doesn't make sense because he's singing about defensive gun use.
They're idiots, ignore them and don't link to their trash.

That article will come right after Newsweeks article about misogyny in rap lyrics

They're trying to make it about race, when it's clearly not.

What is he even saying? None of the protesters there even had a gun. Only the cops did.
There's an obvious disconnect. They just believe what they want to believe.

Who cares what Newsweek writes about?

Listened to the song, not that great. Did like it on Youtube just to give lefties the finger

Maybe they’ll try and cancel Willie Nelson for his Texas Rangers song from 20 yers ago. He’s a leftist favorite

Hmm, that’s a huge change from what he said about guns after the Vegas shooting . Maybe he’s looking to change his bud light drinking image to country fans after those comments after Vegas…?

The amount of Trump-DeSantis posting on this forum has me asking that question some days.

Aldean and his wife are conservative af and very vocal about it. Hence, the cry baby hit piece.

That's very apethic of you.

I have heard the song. It is basically the truth. The same stuff you can get away with in a big city will get you killed in a rural area in the South. An armed society is a polite society.

So selective apathy is better

I don't remember the FBI operatives using guns.
