This is like one of those people on Hoarders, that even when people are there to help them clean up their mess, they try to stop them from even throwing away old fast food cups on the ground.

So is literally Hitler going to be stopped by California's legislative safeguards? The guy is supposed to be a dictator but he is going to abide by Californa's laws? Is that how authoritarians work?

They're projected to lose 4 Electoral votes in 2030. Their population decline must be for real.

So the voters of the US sent a resounding message Tuesday, and he chose to ignore it. The voters of his own state sent a message about his progressive policy and he chose to ignore that as well.

quote:

Proposition 6 looked to alter the nature of state prison labor, specifically looking to eliminate "indentured servitude for incarcerated persons." This would impact pricing on state and local services and goods depending on how much it relied on prison labor, according to the California Secretary of State's website. It didn't gain enough support, with 54.9 percent voting against it.

Proposition 32 looked to raise the state's minimum wage from $16 an hour to $18 an hour following increases for fast food workers and healthcare workers. The measure did not pass, with 52 of the voters denying it.

Proposition 33 looked to empower local governments to limit rent in properties first occupied after February 1, 1995, rolling back state laws that had prevented those powers. It was widely opposed, with 61.6 percent of Californians voting against it.

It’s a shame California is such a beautiful natural state because the people suck. What a waste.

Just cut off their federal funding.

Red states governors and AGs need start manning up and taking on CA overreach into federal govt policies that affect the sovereignty of the red states. They can no longer let CA lawsuits and laws dictate policies that will impact other states.

When industries cower to CA laws, those CA affect consumers in all other states and red states have been letting CA do this for too long.

Not that I agree with Newsom on pretty much anything but this is what states should do if they view an administration as hostile. He's also giving himself a spotlight because he is opportunistic whore while also standing up for the state he represents.

CA needs to do the US a favor and secede along with the Northeastern states. Their values are not compatible with middle America

CA leaving alone would be enough to irreparably tilt the balance of power to the GOP.

The remaining blue states would have to either leave as well or shift to a more moderate version of the DNC or become a permanent 35% party nationally.

A lot has been discussed about Texas seceding if Trump had lost.. hoping the South would join them. Perhaps that was the backwards way of looking at the situation. Should we extend California an olive branch and give them the option to leave the US? The extra votes that brings in could break the filibuster.. assuming I understand it correctly.

Win win for all involved. We wash our hands of California and whoever wants to join them.. without bloodshed during a Civil War..

Is this possible? What's the downside?

One of the first laws passed in January should funnel all challenges to admin actions to a random three judge court comprised of judges randomly drawn nationally from the courts of appeal and then straight to the Supreme Court.

Would make California think long and hard about filing if it can’t draw a favorable California judge, doesn’t know that it won’t get a conservative court, and then it only has one layer before Supreme Court review (meaning lower courts can’t stay an action to death).

My thoughts exactly. Newsome grandstanding about doing what he should be doing as governor like he’s defying Trump.

Announce that deportation operations will not go into CA. Then freeze all federal funding to those states for waging war on the US by serving as magnets for the border invasion, which hurts other states and gives justification for federal involvement. Let another 15 million or more invaders flood into CA from across the nation, and when the state collapses, we'll see what Newsom has to say then.

Someday the Cali Hispanics are going to have enough and shut down all their agriculture at one time. Imagine knowing that Hispanics are turning right and that is mostly who harvests and operates the Cali agriculture empire.

quote:

Producing over 400 different commodities (more than any other state in the U.S.), California agriculture makes a major impact on the state and national economy each year. According to the USDA’s most recent Census of Agriculture, there are 63,134 farms in California with a market value of agricultural products sold totaling more than $59 billion. (The 2022 Census of Agriculture data was released in February 2024 and is the most recent census data available.)

quote:

The market value of crops grown in California, including nursery and greenhouse crops, totaled nearly $42 billion in 2022
