JL is being petty about importance of a city and area of state that is a cash cow and tourist haven, people dont visit La to go to Richmond or any other part of state, they come to visit NOLA and spend lots of money so he is being short sighted driven by his perceived disrespect from NOLA mayor. NOLA area voters will remember this slight at the polls I would think he just motivates people to vote against his interest

All that New Orleans proper has left is that it’s a big tourism draw. Their kids have to leave to find jobs in economic powerhouses like Atlanta and Houston. It’s now an economic backwater that has to cling to suburban parishes to feel remotely relevant.

A lot of you are so cute thinking things can be turned around for NO, BR, and/or the entire State of Louisiana.
It’s like arguing who has the better smelling pile of shite. The entire State is shite except for a few specific special places.
Corrupt politicians, incompetent government workers, and a dumb poor uneducated population.
It all took a nose dive in the 60s and hasn’t changed it’s course ever in 60 years. Never will.
It’s not that we couldn’t be much better, just that most people in this State are pathetic.
But hey, we got LSU, Mardi Gras, and crawfish boils!

N.O. Is probably one if not the most economically important parishes in the state.Millions of tourists contribute to the state coffers every year.The problem is it might be the most corrupt parish in the state.The streets ,pumping stations ,incompetent city hall workers etc have kept them in the stone ages.The democrats in the city got what they deserved when they elected TEEDY to 2 terms ,probably the most corrupt mayor ever.Marino has made a huge mistake in fighting with Landry.A lot of the state legislators ,especially the north, don’t like N.O and will align with the Gov against the city.She is committing political suicide by following this coarse.

I can’t wait until he’s gone. New Orleans has issues and the issues need to be fixed. But other than Baton Rouge for sports events, I doubt many are visiting Louisiana outside of New Orleans.

Good luck with anyone that can determine that. Between federal programs that gets routed through state to Nawlins as well as every other state vouchers it typically tops all yearly sales taxes sent in including that of visitors. But Nawlins hasn’t provided enough revenue from taxes, local and property or every other revenue stream to pay for city services alone
