Then apparently the SEC reached out to investigate him and he deleted his Twitter account

quote:

Michael Burry has deleted his Twitter profile.

"The Big Short" investor swore off tweeting in March after SEC officials visited him.

Burry has warned of bubbles in stocks, cryptocurrencies, and other assets this year.

He was saying that toward the end of last year too. I listened to him (and others) and lost a lot of money by moving it out of the market and into less volatile investments. I just moved the money back into the market last week.

With the money machine printing with no end in sight I don't see how crypto collapses. More and more people everyday are running from fiat as fast as they can.

I say print more. The faster we can devalue the dollar the faster we can weaken DC.

There is a twitter account that screenshots all of his tweets.

And agree that crypto is looking more and more like a potentially peaceful path to "disarming" out of control governments.

crypto is a paradox

crypto can only hurt DC if it becomes a currency

crypto has no real value as a currency if it's an investment

crypto is only popular on a mass scale because it's being used as an investment

crypto gains a lot of value as an investment...with fiat currencies flooding the market

crypto will lose popularity if fiat currencies don't inflate its value, but it will gain value as its own currency (while losing popularity)

Crypto is as much a currency as the printed base "money" that goes on the Fed's balance sheet for bonds and never leaves.

Crypto is in the last year of a 4 year cycle based on the halving of Bitcoin's mining rate. It will go parabolic later this year and then crash back down. The cycle will repeat in 2025.

Crypto still has a usability problem which hinders its ability to function as cash for the masses. Scalability, user interface, protection from stupidity are just a few hurdles that need to be overcome.

In the long run these things will be fixed and parallel economies will be created at global scale that will rival existing nation state economies. The power of these economies will be leverage to combat tyrannical governments.

And the fiat countries will do everything in their power to crush crypto or develop "blockchain" federal reserve notes ( LINK) which would ironically promote the use of crypto to the masses and further destroy value of the dollar. The unintentional consequences of developing a federal reserve crypto would lead to more and more people becoming more familiar with the technology. The biggest weakness to a federal reserve crypto would be their inability to stop printing. They can't stop printing because congress can't stop spending beyond tax revenue.

The second DC feels threaten, they will ban crypto. Look no further than the fence around the capital following a rally. Crypto is dead in the water. DC will never allow it to supplant fiat. But someone is certainly going to make billions (see Elon Musk and Tesla) before crypto collapses.

You left out that state actors, fiat currencies, are the only players likely capable of manipulating the value of crypto currencies, specifically China.

Yellen was harping on the evils of crypto at her confirmation hearing.

Bitcoin is supplanting gold and other stores of value and is of no threat to the dollar as it stands.

It’s also something they can’t readily confiscate if you move it to a cold wallet. Just saying.
