That specific episode, and the high casualty rate, was probably friendly fire. The Apache pilots reported trouble identifying friend or foe.
The Israelis have said they are not going to investigate the friendly fire incidents that occurred on 10/7 because of the high number of incidents, and the large number of people killed, but also for moral reasons. It would be wrong to judge people trying to do the right thing in the moment.

The Israelis got bogged down and the Palestinians cut them off for a while. The Israelis ended up doing an airdrop to resupply their ground forces there.
An Israeli relief column was sent in, and they are no longer cut off
