It makes a difference when that .01% will completely physically dominate the other 99.99%.
One boy competing in track and field against 9,999 other girls and he takes every event, wins every medal.
That doesn’t make it right. Or sane.

So they call themselves back into Session and neither veto gets overridden?
So technically per the constitution they automatically come back for a veto session UNLESS at least one of the chambers has a majority opposed. That has never happened until now.

How does Schexnayder survive as Speaker after this? The House is way more right-wing than the Senate.
House is more strident, but they actually have a lower proportion of republicans. The Senate has a super-majority, the House does not. Thus the results we saw today.
That said, the Speaker made at least two terrible mistakes. He said the veto (on trans sports) would be overridden and that he wasn't whipping votes. He hyped expectations while saying he did nothing. Think the story of the tortoise and the hare.
Not sure how House Republicans don't revolt.

The governor is half-way through his term, and he will be the last Democratic governor that we will see in some time.
What in the actual frick are you basing this on?
Dems are 6-6 over the last 12 elections, 2-2 over the last 4 and of the 4 Republican governors since Reconstruction, 1 served a full term as Governor as a Democrat and another charged party affiliations from Democrat literally as he was qualifying to run for Governor.
All Louisiana "Republicans" need is the scantest of excuses not to vote for the Republican candidate.
EWE (a felon) over Treen because, "Reasons?"
Romer (1st term) over Livingston because Louisiana is extremely easily manipulated - Romer was the "compromise" and Livingston actually ran THIRD after Romer and EWE, didn't make the run off and EWE made good on the deal and dropped out
Blanco over Jindal because the Democrat whispering campaign that Jindal was Muslim (so tolerant and inclusive)
JBE over Vitter because of a shite ton of self-righteousness
JBE over Rispone because of
So, none of these are valid reasons for a conservative "Republican" base to not support their party's candidate in the single most important statewide office unless they aren't really conservative or Republican.
Louisiana "Republicans" are not folks with whom one would want to share a foxhole or have at your side in a real fight.
Period.

Why are there so many worthless pieces of shite in government?

I call it fricking ridiculous because it's doing nothing but supporting a dissociative mental disorder. I call it fricking ridiculous because actual males will be competing and dominating in female sports.

But has he ever flip flopped like this on a hot button issue that’s a significant betrayal of the conservative base?
Connick is from Jefferson Parish.
In 2019, JBE won 57% of the parish
In 2015, JBE won 41% of the parish
So JBE did 6 points better in 2019 vs 2015.
Now I don't know the breakdowns in his specific senate district (I can't find that easily).
But Jefferson is full of white middle class women who aren't nearly as conservative as we think they are.

In that it would have let biological girls play on boy's teams. Does anyone care about that?
In the real world? Probably not.
In court? These are the things that lead to courts throwing out laws as unconstitutional.

Who is the Republican Whip in charge of headcounting?
They got it all wrong.
This is what happens when you have an unemployed speaker of the house. Somebody need to hire Clay so he has something else to do.

LHSAA rules already ban trans athletes unless they have had the genital removal surgery, which no one can get until after they turn 18 anyway. Trans athletes are already banned from high school sports in Louisiana.

I'm glad people are starting to see this.
Republicans in LA are a different breed than Republicans form other states.
Most Republicans in other states are no longer ruled by the religious right. Here (especially in N. LA) they are. Republicans here are corrupt and populist, just like the Democrats.
People think there is a uniparty in DC... that's nothing compared to the uniparty in LA.

A rule can be changed with a little political pressure.

Franklin Foil is weak. Ronnie Johns is just crooked. The two aren’t mutually exclusive, but Johns skipped town because Bel bought and paid for him. Foil is following in lockstep the Bill Cassidy model.

Let's see how long that last after the LA legislature just empowered those freaks of nature.

Just pack your gun and don't get caught.....been doing that for years.

So now my HS daughter has to compete against biological boys in soccer and track? Wonderful.
The first tome a girl is left off a team for a biological male, we will (hopefully) see a Title IX lawsuit.
Women must be afforded the same rights and opportunities as men.

Yesterday, Clay Schexnayder was crowing about how he knew that the votes are there to override the tranny bill and he was 100% confident of that happening.
And lo and behold, that didn’t even come close to happening. And that was after he said that he’s not whipping GOP votes. And that was said while JBE was working his arse off to whip democrat votes and make sure they stay in line.
Clay sucks arse and he needs to be removed from his post as Speaker. He’s a RINO that continues to betray conservatives
This is a microcosm of the problem with the Republican Party. It’s worthless. Yet you hang on to it more than the ideals that the party is supposed to represent.

For now.
My guess is that a lawsuit is already being filed based on this bullshite that was shoveled today.
