Well she just started HS so, yeah. Boys around 13-14 become far superior athletically.

Deep down I'm sure Republicans wanted none of this to pass so they can use it in the next election.

Had a serious discussion about this yesterday. Problem is by business is here and my kids are young and my parents are old. I feel like I'm nailed down for at least another 15-20.

that image I posted is the final tally
68 yeas - 30 nays - 6 didn't vote
if you can get just 2 of those 6 to show up and vote yea... they can still get the override

So it was a waste of time. Primary all of them

So now my HS daughter has to compete against biological boys in soccer and track? Wonderful.
Probably not. The likelihood that your current HS daughter would compete against a tranny in soccer and track, in LA, now, is probably less than the chance she gets hit by lightning while on the track or pitch.
Especially since the LHSAA has already banned this.
So she would need to be competing in a non-LHSAA sanctioned event.

Thanks for clearing that up. I haven't been really following this story as I thought it was already banned.

House is taking up the bill related to transgender athletes playing in women sports. Rep. Duplessis is opposed of the bill. He says, “it dangerously leaves open the door for a coach or a staff member to accuse a girl of not being a biological girl.”
That's what birth certificates are for

That simply does not work in this state. By all accounts, lawmakers were overwhelmed far beyond anything in the past with calls and pleas by the public heavily in support of legalization of marijuana.
Guess who won out in the end as they seemingly always do? The Sheriff's Association. The bill that would have applied the taxes didn't even get 50% of the vote where a 2/3rds majority would have been required. Then the bill actually legalizing was pulled.
Well, it worked enough to get the first ever veto override session to happen. Perhaps the same methods should be used with the Sheriffs and other groups who stranglehold our politicians.

Cowards. All of them. They voted against what 99% of the people in their districts wanted.

Yesterday, Clay Schexnayder was crowing about how he knew that the votes are there to override the tranny bill and he was 100% confident of that happening.
And lo and behold, that didn’t even come close to happening. And that was after he said that he’s not whipping GOP votes. And that was said while JBE was working his arse off to whip democrat votes and make sure they stay in line.
Clay sucks arse and he needs to be removed from his post as Speaker. He’s a RINO that continues to betray conservatives.

Remember Republicans only have 68 seats in the House and you need 70 to override. You had Marion (an independent) from Gretna voted no as did REPUBLICAN from Kenner Stagni.
Now Marino and Stagni both voted against it earlier. So at least no flipping. That seemed to be all Democrats whose support evaporated in the wind.

How many transgender yutes are joining teams of the opposite sex in the State of Louisiana in any given year? Just out of curiosity.
And why does the state legislature have to act on this to the financial detriment of the state?
Can't restrictions be enacted at the local level?

Wasn't it 68 the first time around? I seem to remember they would have needed a couple of No to flip to Yes.

On the conceal carry thread yesterday, there were a few posters who were saying just wait until LA gets a GOP governor, then it will pass and be signed.
Aren't the Sheriffs associations in tight with Republican leadership as well? Who to say they won't be able to get a GOP "tough on crime" governor to not sign it?

Yep. This looks really bad.
It was never going to be easy, but the Speaker's unearned confidence makes him look clueless and weak.
If he didn't have the votes he should have downplayed it and talked about how just having the session was historic.
Framing the issue is 80% of the battle in politics.

There was nothing stopping transgender kids from doing this before this bill was passed and vetoed. That's why I said nothing has changed. If your daughter hasn't been competing with transgender kids already, the chances that she now will are slim and not remotely related to this legislation.
ETA: Apparently it's already banned by the LHSAA so again, nothing will change for your daughter.
