Exactly. This was always a non-issue. Trannys are already prohibited from cross-sex athletic competition in Louisiana.

It was 78 the first time. Got a few socially conservative democrats. But that was never going to stand.

Who to say they won't be able to get a GOP "tough on crime" governor to not sign it?
Jeff Landry?
John Kennedy?
John Schroeder?
Mike Johnson?
Garett Graves?
Sharon Hewitt?
You believe all of them would veto a CC bill? And risk the backlash from the GOP base that’s out of patience?

I bet we might have transgender movements towards sports now. They like to "in your face" this stuff

Gotcha. I knew there was an "8" in it =)

Because JBE whipped the votes and swung his dick around.
Clay sat on his arse and did nothing besides ignorantly spewing nonsense about how he was “100%” confident that the votes were there.

They just won't pass it if they don't think it will be vetoed.
See how that works?

Jeff Landry? Can't win. Won't win.
John Kennedy? Isn't running
John Schroeder? Northshore guy where the northshore sheriffs are very influential
Mike Johnson? Probably would sign it. Can he win?
Garett Graves? Who the hell knows.
Sharon Hewitt? See John Schroeder
I admire you... you seem to think GOP politicians in this state have some sort of a backbone or some sort of ideology here. They are in it for the power and the money, just like everyone else.

Point is... still not becoming law.

Now that's funny. I am that out of patience GOP base and I have no idea what to do with myself right now. I could call and email, effectively censure, but they have been blown away with all that. So now we just go home? What would the left do? Threaten everything in their life and egg their cars? I have a job and family. There will be none of that from me. I will withhold all money to the GOP but they depend on big donors, not me. There is simply no representation. And I just can't get over that. I don't have bribe money or power. Apparently the sleeping giant or whatever ain't all that scary to them.

Right - it is theater. They pass anti-abortion laws because they know the Federal Courts will strike them down. They pass this knowing that JBE will veto it. Rather than put a Republican governor "under the gun" (pardon the pun), they just won't pass it.
And those sweet, sweet CHP fees just keep rolling in.

You think Republican governor candidates aren't going to make this an issue? It has popular support in the state especially among the voters republicans need to win.
No way this issue isn't brought back. It's just political math.

Here's a statement from several Democrats who supported the transgender bill but voted against a veto override (including some who were swing votes). #lalege #lagov

Louisiana is not a really conservative state, especially compared to other southern states.
The GOP politicians here are simply less populist than the democrat ones... but they are still populist.
My only suggestion for you is to work to get more real conservatives elected.

The only thing I think is wrong with your thinking here is I believe the GOP candidates will make SB118 and SB156 campaign issues now. If they do that there is no way they can veto a passed bill no matter the pressure they get from the sheriffs.

I think the clash behind a conservative LA governor, and the sheriffs cabal... is going to be epic.
LA may have the most powerful governor in the country... but I'd also say our sheriffs wield much more power than the average sheriff in this country.
I think the sheriffs are going to frame this as a... if you support law and order... you can't support open carry... because that will lead to lawlessness.

That's a foolish argument that can easily be overcome with real data especially if a governor is actually behind the effort.

They were able to flip four state senators.
You may, perhaps likely, are right. But I don't think this is a slam dunk.

I said nothing about their electoral prospects.
Just imagine each of them as Governor and ask yourself if they would risk the backlash from the statewide GOP base on a veto to a CC bill.
There’s not enough money in the entire world to soothe over a betrayal on a hot button issue.

They are in it for the power and the money,
They can’t make money and trade in power if they get voted out of office. And betraying the base on hot button issues is the fastest way to get voted out of office.

And this act would make that true regardless of whether or not the LHSAA decides to change that rule in the future.
