So wait, the tranny bill was LESS restrictive than the LHSAA rules... due to a drafting error?

El oh freaking el.

The Advocate @theadvocatebr
Gov. John Bel Edwards was live on the radio as the House failed to override his veto on a transgender sports bill.

"One of the things that I regret most about this week is that the conversation is not about COVID right now," Edwards said, in part.

They were able to flip four state senators.

And they’re in their first term and they will have to answer for in 2023.

This is going to be a very common mailer that year.

Voters hate weakness.

They're talking about women (transgender men) competing in men's sports. No one cares about women competing in men's sports because they can't win. They don't have a competitive advantage against the competition.

I said nothing about their electoral prospects.

Just imagine each of them as Governor and ask yourself if they would risk the backlash from the statewide GOP base on a veto to a CC bill.

If we dismiss their electoral prospects... then let's just discuss what Sentrius or LSUFanHouston will do!

I think their electoral prospects is a pretty damn important part of this exercise.

Because as we well know... LA is not a state where the most conservative person will automatically win the governor's race. If that was the case... we would be discussing if the sheriffs can flip Gov. Vitter.

You are right to an extent. I doubt the citizens of this state's ability to turn out a republican incumbent in favor of another republican.

As I told another poster... it's entire possible you are right... but it's not a slam dunk.

That’s going to be a very one sided conversation given that absolutely no one is listening to him.

Well I hate to say it again but the only way to stop this nonsense is for biological women to quit their sport if the school tried to force a male on their team or if their team is expected to compete against a team with a male on it.

Sucks for them but they have already lost their sports, they need to think about the young girls coming behind them .

Let the mental defectives play with themselves.

So to speak.

I bet we might have transgender movements towards sports now. They like to "in your face" this stuff

If you want to call like 0.01% of students in Louisiana being transgender and playing sports a movement, have at it.

I don't know much about Foil or Bernard.

Connick is a first term senator, true... but he also served three terms in the House, first.

Also... a super interesting fact... in all four races (3 for the House, 1 for the Senate), he was unopposed.

Now... to run in four races... unopposed in all four... you have to have either a certain amount of power, or a district that doesn't give a crap.

If there is a GOP Governor in 2024, it will likely be from that list so imagine each of them as Governor weighing the risk of a backlash from the GOP base or the sheriffs influence.

Louisiana has had a lot of stubborn growing pains in its shift to a more conservative state. This is one of those stubborn growing pains and will get easier as its state elections get more partisan.

And JBE’s 8 years that showed he lied about being a socially conservative blue dog Dixiecrat will only further intensify that partisanship.

But has he ever flip flopped like this on a hot button issue that’s a significant betrayal of the conservative base?

Two days in a row there is no answer at any of these offices.

Are they ALL in BR? No secretaries?

How long will it be until someone can talk to these elected officials?

The LHSAA is run by leftists (who are the majority of public school principals), hence the split

This is likely a temporary setback. The governor is half-way through his term, and he will be the last Democratic governor that we will see in some time. A Republican governor would not veto this legislation, and so when it is reintroduced in 2024 it will pass both houses of the Louisiana legislature and be signed into law.

The biggest long-term threat to this legislation is not JBE but is rather the Biden administration, who will go all-out to support overturning these laws in states that have passed them.

Is the Louisiana GOP still not run by fricking retards?

Newsflash, it still is.

If they had a scintilla of sense and political acumen, the Dems would have NO and BR metro areas, and that's it.

So they call themselves back into Session and neither veto gets overridden?

How does Schexnayder survive as Speaker after this? The House is way more right-wing than the Senate.
