Over age 30, a US citizen, and a resident of the state, are the only ones I'm aware of? Some have historically played a bit fast and loose with the residency deal. I'm not sure about Darline. I'm guessing she's been situated in SC for some time.

The primary is August 11th, runoff if necessary will be August 25th… then the election on November 3rd.
If a “real candidate” were to fill in, they’d have less time to go out and earn votes.
His sister is fine to keep the seat warm and vote as her brother would have voted.
This is NOT a big deal. It is literally a very short term placeholder that is better relegated to someone happy to BE temporary AND act as the office holder would act.
