He had his military pension and social security income and had a senate pension coming. He didn't need millions.

That’s not really sad, that’s about a federal employee would save up in their TSP during a career. This surprised me though, I always assumed he was banking on his forever wars

I thought our politicians used the Vatican bank for their ill-gotten gains, like when John Roberts got a billion dollars to send Obamacare through.

There were articles everywhere when Roberts was caught with that. They were totally scrubbed from the internet in less than a month.

Now do his offshore accounts....
Oh wait, you can't!!!! The entire offshore banking industry isn't subject to any regulations.
You're out of date with your statement.

Since 2010 when the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) was signed into law almost all foreign financial institutions are required to report the assets of U.S. citizen account holders directly to the IRS.

Under FATCA, foreign banks, investment firms, and insurers must identify and report U.S.-owned accounts to the IRS. Institutions that fail to comply risk a 30% withholding tax on certain U.S.-sourced payments and investments.

If this is true, I might owe Graham a bit of an apology. I always figured he was bought-and-paid-for.

I've learned that the most cynical people among us are usually the least trustworthy people because they think everybody else is as dishonest as they are...

The article I linked says "normal" individuals between the ages of 65 and 74 have an average net worth of $1.79 million and a median net worth of $409,900.

So, Graham's net worth was below "average."

There no way that's accurate. I did a quick Google search and it said that only 7 percent of the US population has a net worth over 1 million. That seems far more accurate.

So I am supposed to feel better about him because the one sin he didn't commit was greed?

He was a US Senator who'd achieved everything he'd hoped for. You think that the $1.4M is ""sad""??

If he purchased his row house in DC when he was elected to the Senate, the current value of the house is around $850K.
