That one rehearsal was the setup. After that, they knew Quaato would auger in during the debate, so they had their excuses ready to go (and, of course, the media is ready to carry that water).
Again, they just need him to take his oath. Then he can resign and the Dem governor (that's where they've been putting the resources for months) will name his replacement - likely the wife. This has been the plan for a while.

No, the screens were only for closed captioning of the question and response. Both candidates could see the screens. If he was reading answers off of the screens then he, and his campaign, are more retarded than I thought.

Pretty much every fricking captioning software is filled with errors. There's no perfect captioning software out there.
