After Pennsylvania Senate candidate John Fetterman had difficulty speaking during his highly anticipated debate with Mehmet Oz, the stroke survivor’s campaign blamed the caption system provided for him as being “delayed and filled with errors.”

“It is unfortunate that Mr. Fetterman is now criticizing the closed captioning process employed by Nexstar during tonight’s debate,” Nexstar communications chief Gary Weitman said in a statement. “Both candidates agreed to the technical set-up for the closed captioning process weeks ago, which was implemented at the request of the Fetterman campaign. Both candidates were offered the opportunity for two full rehearsals with the same equipment used in tonight’s debate; Mr. Fetterman chose to do only one. In fact, Nexstar’s production team went to extraordinary lengths to ensure the effectiveness of the closed captioning process, and to accommodate several last-minute requests of the Fetterman campaign. The closed captioning process functioned as expected during rehearsal and again during tonight’s debate. We regret that Mr. Fetterman and his campaign feel otherwise.”

I'm sure it has nothing to do with him being a neanderthal.

He was reading his answers off a teleprompter during the debate? That should be enough to disqualify him.

He shouldn’t have needed it in the first place. I’m sorry he is disabled but maybe he shouldn’t be trying to lead others if he can’t verbally communicate without captioning.

Yeah, and the Oz campaign agreed to let him do it, just to get Festerlurch actually on stage in front of the world.

At the time, I thought it was pretty stupid of Oz to do so...

In retrospect, it appears it was brilliant strategy. Even with cheat sheets, dress rehearsals and thoroughly scripted answers, Festerlurch still completely shat the bed. The Pennsylvania dims better hope they've got the Fraud Machine well oiled and full of fuel, because they just killed any bit of actual enthusiasm they may have had for the mutated spawn of Shrek.

Watching dims self immolate is pretty fun.

I’m afraid they do. I mean did their legislature do anything to ensure better election integrity since last time? Aren’t they one of the states that disregarded their own rules, anyway? What’s in place to stop it now? Probably be rinse and repeat.

We’ve set a pretty low bar when all that is expected for a candidate is to stand there and read words aloud, and call that a “debate”.

The fact that Fetterman apparently can’t even do that says a lot about him and his competence.

Then again, look at our current President.

the fact that he is even a candidate shows how far off the rails this country is. unless there is a major purge in our educational system i see little hope!

Letting the candidate speak for himself and show the world what a complete train wreck... something Trump should have thought of doing in the 1st debate with Biden.

Oz is a mess.

But Fetterman is not suitable for that position. The man can’t hear and understand verbal communication. He should have withdrawn from the primary and let someone else run.

But I guess the fix is in and they aren’t really worried about the election. So they are pushing him really hard.
