When I first started to listen to them, one of their favorite "story guy" targets was former WDSU newswoman Lynn Gansar. One of my favorite "stories" was when Lynn and her husband were in line at the bank. Gunmen burst into the bank and screamed for everyone to get on the floor. Everyone lies down on their stomachs, except for Lynn, who lays on her back. Her husband, exasperated, tells her...dammit Lynn, this is a holdup, not an office party. :rimshot:
Suffice to say that Lynn wasn't a fan.

They record around Houston, but their show is syndicated across half of the country. You can catch them all the way from West Texas to the Carolinas and from the Dakotas down to south Florida. It’s one of the biggest radio shows in the country.

Yes, the "demented ramblings of Jay Hooks", as well as story time with Amos, and Carnac the Magnificent.

He has upper GI issues
That's pretty broad, though, could be anything from GERD, upper GI bleeding, peptic ulcer to stomach/esophageal cancer and anything in between.

Should be treatable they said.
Yeah, I'm catching up on today's show via the app and they're consistent about that.

Blueboy was a little sensationalistic, but he is a fan of the show (as are many of us).

Going back over the show, they mentioned that Walton had been posting about his health on FB, but they must have taken them down because I can't find them. But,

There has to be more to it, I think. This has gone on for about a month. They did re-runs in the middle of the week for the last three weeks at least. Then long weekends that went into the next week.
Kenny and Johnson did make an analogy about when singers are described as having "dehydration" and the implication is that it's a chemical issue. I have at times recently thought the guy was drunk on air. I wonder if that's the issue here. I'd be relieved but kind of annoyed as well.
There was a moment yesterday, right before they left the air (at 9 again), in which Walton seemed to be in some kind of pain. Johnson said something about him saying he'd like to die on air, and Walton, apparently in some discomfort, said "I think I can pull it off."
Who knows? I like the show, so I hope he's okay. Screw the haters.

Don’t remember her but I know they used to give Angela Hill hell.
And whoever the chick was that had her tits fall out while she was doing Mardi Gras coverage on live TV. That was the first time I heard the term “puffy nipples” and it came out of Billy Ed’s mouth.
And putting the giant bra on the mermaids at the Worlds Fair was pretty funny too.

Well, the upper GI tract can kill you under the right circumstances, so I'll just concede that I don't know what I don't know.

It is an open secret that when an actor or singer checks into rehab, their publicists call it "dehydration" and/or "exhaustion."

Let's just not do this - it is rank speculation. The dude is getting up there in years, and it is more likely for something relatively small to spiral out of control at this point than it is to be some sort of substance abuse. It is no secret that he likes the dope, but all the dope folks say that can't be a bad problem.
It is more likely he's put something off and it is beyond just "shaking it off."

I thought this was just a new spin on the GoldenNugget saga with all of the made up radio hosts. didn't realize it was real

I did notice quite a few men in jorts and all-white cross trainers looking pretty depressed lately.

I listen every morning that I can, wish them nothing but the best but that carnac the magnificent gig is just too dumb for words.
How many people over time have laughed at and mimicked the Billy Ed laugh?
Hur hur, hur hur hur...

shite, I kind of hope that's what it is. That at least isn't fatal, unless people want it to be. Originally, I thought he might have cancer.

I’m dating myself here (if not me, then who will! Lol). But I started listening to them when they were broadcasting from NOLA over 35 yrs ago on, i think, WRNO or B97.. they were super funny, at least to an 8 yr old .. back then, we had a USFL football team called the New Orleans Breakers; they’d signed a 19 yr old running back named Marcus Dupree, and W&J would always refer to him as either Marcus Rich as a dog Dupree, or Sick as a Dog, depending on whether or not they’d won the previous week.. Guess you had to be there, lol... then I remember listening to them again in high school, still funny.. but years later i had the opportunity to hear them again a few times and they’d gotten waaay too political, IMO.. it isn’t really a left/right thing, since i also find Seth Meyers (who is their polar opposite) to lean too heavily on politics in his show.. in any case, i dont want the guy to die, but it isn’t the kid of show i enjoy listening to anymore.

W&J was the first place I heard "Voodoo Poonanny" and "Use Your Hand". Dudes are great although I haven't listened much recently.

One of the Amos stories I remember was back during the Duke/Edwards race for governor. They story went that Edwards invited Duke out in a camping trip. Duke goes to a bush to take a whizz, and a snake jumps up and bites him right on the dick. Edwards calls the doctor on the phone inside his 4x4 limo. The doctor advises him the only way to save Duke’s life is to suck the poison out.
So ol’ EWE gets out the limo, walks over to Duke, and says “David.......you’re gonna die.”

I wasn't butthurt, I was calling out your incorrect original title/headline. At the time, it was pure speculation. If they were more well known personalities, your thread would have been whacked by Chicken for being so presumptive.
I'm sure you are a nice guy, blueboy, and a smart and decent fellow. So I am happy to move past this, because like you, I think the guys are incredibly talented.
To each their own, but to those on this thread that didn't find them entertaining over the last 2-4 years, you probably play too many video games and need CG-laden superhero movies to stimulate you. W&J are masters of a nuanced radio technique that obviously above your head.
