The Plummer hang up was legendary... "So long"... He was so offended they hadn't watched his boring movie before interviewing him.
I think it was actually a book, either way it was funny as hell.

It feels like a Hunter S. Thompson type sentiment. Kudos on the wordsmithing.

Didn't Jay Mohr freak out while being interviewed by W&J??

I remember seeing Walton at the entrance of an Aerosmith concern in the late 90s. It was the first time I saw what he looked like and remember thinking “he looks like that?”
I remember them switching stations out of the blue and frantically looking for their show in the mornings when they weren’t on the usually station.
Since being brought to junior high in 96, I’ve tuned in! This is actually the first celebrity/personality I’m sad about.

One of my favorite W&J stories was the Richard Marx interview during lunch where Richard Marx dropped mustard on his white shirt during the interview and he just kept going. W&J would laugh when they told that story.

I've stayed out of this thread because I knew it was going to cause me to get emotional. I've listened to those guys most of my life. Godspeed Walton.

It was a good memorial show this morning. I started listening to them around 1991 in Baton Rouge, and their show became a morning routine staple. RIP John Walton.

I don't know about Mohr but Bill Burr came across as a complete tool during an interview and then ran back to an NYC station to complain about how the two Southerners beat him up.
RIP John Walton

So is Ken Webster going to be the permanent replacement?
Posted on 7/15/19 at 6:17 pm to LSUFanHouston
Yeah, I am also not a fan. He's not awful, but just not that funny on the air and his voice is grating.
But what else are they going to do? Any other "known" personality would likely not fit and if they leave the air, I'm stuck with nothing but douchebags laughing at their own stupid jokes. They've had El Gringo on as a man on the street. Maybe they could add him to the booth crew.
People who say Johnson carried that show have no idea what they're talking about. Both of them tried doing shows with other people and both of them failed. They just fit together and you've got to find someone who fits. They may never.
I'm still available. Just sayin.

Ken is growing on me. It’s not great but I rather listen to that than anything else. Just a 20 minute drive to work im not going to venture out.

Anyone remember long ago they called Jack Nicholson in bed with some random chicks from the night before and had him recite the few good men script. That was the shite.

It’ll improve from decent to good. Give it a couple months. He’s already gotten better.

Me, too. I'm not ready to offer effusive praise, but really over the 5 - 6 weeks he's been filling in since John got sick, he's shown pretty decent improvement. The biggest piece of that is Steve's in-character timing with Ken has come miles in that same time. Plus, Ken seems much more comfortable in the chair.
Still better than any other terrestrial radio option. I would just go on demand with my phone as an alternative.

Reminds me when venerable New Orleans sportscaster Hap Glaudi died. I thought he couldn't be replaced. Then I first heard replacement Buddy D and was convinced of it.
Well Buddy wasn't Hap but he grew on you. And when Buddy died, I missed him too.
