How about that zillion dollar stunt moving homeless people down the street so they wouldn't be in front of the superdome for the Super Bowl? What a waste of money that was.
I think Landry is an idiot but did not disagree with this. It cost between $16M-$17M to house the homeless. NOLA has received rave reviews for their job hosting. The economic impact of the Super Bowl was around $500M. NOLA is now in position to get another Super Bowl, maybe relatively soon. Moving the homeless away from the Dome was a worthwhile expenditure.

We should have housed them then. We spent $60 million to move 170 of them to Gentilly for a few days.
[we could have given each of them a quarter of a million dollars and saved $20 million.

Mine came down but went back up under Biden.

Why?
Where do you draw the line? Which person do you look into the face of and say, "I cant do this for anyone else. There is no more money, no more spaces". Because that will eventually happen.
Its why communists always fail. Once people realize that will be fed and housed, they quit. Its basic human nature. "Life is hard. Then you die". Too many humans quit, long before they die.
Another aspect of human nature is mortality. Despite your best efforts, people will die. Despite you giving every dime, and working until you drop, on your deathbed you will weep because so many are still hungry, still homeless
As a parent I quickly learned not to promise what you cant deliver to your kids. And you simply cant house and feed 360 million people, if they wont participate in their own pursuit of happiness
Once someone quits on life, they are done.

LaDoge sounds like a French-Canadian hockey player.

Let’s not be trying to extradite doctors from the East Coast for things they’re legally allowed to do there
And it might be time to pull the plug on UNO athletics

Youre such a disingenuous prick
The case originated in 2013. Landry didnt even become AG until 2016. Most of the work was done under JBEs admin. In fact the plaintiff is listed as Office of Coastal Management, Thomas F. Harris, Secretary.
Who Landry had already fired by the time this decision was released

To save money. We should have given each person $10,000. That would have cost taxpayers $1.7 million as opposed to $60 million.

If the goal was to get them away from tourists, we could have done that for a significantly lower price. That’s my point.

I think most homeless people are mentally ill. They aren’t just able bodied sloths who prefer to spend their entire lives out in the elements.

And????
Once you open the floodgate to unlimited funds, then the lazy suddenly become mentally ill. And you simply cant afford to it. At any price

Well you accused them of giving up on life. I don’t think it’s that simple.

Maybe but the $60 million Landry spent to shuffle the deck was 100% not the best use of those funds.

That's part of hosting those types of events.
It is really fricking moronic to believe that these people would suddenly become something different than what they are if we gave them subsidized housing to destroy.

bullshite. There hasn't been an explosion of mental illness to the level that would be necessary to support your hypothesis.
Letting them ruin property isn't the answer. It is total fantasy.
