Didn't we get on the other side of this once they snuck a black woman in as 007. Nobody seemed too burned up by that.

It doesn't matter if the new Bond is a woke choice or not. This age of western civilization is wrong for the character. What made it special will not be allowed out of a Hollywood studio, regardless of who's cast. It will be another self-loathing, "complex" Bond who's potentially more a villain than the villain. Modern hollywood abhors a hero or a masculine rogue and if you actually like the Bond legacy, what's the point of a "modern Bond"?

I understand his reasons for not wanting to do the role, but Idris Elba would be a great James Bond IMO.
