I’ve noticed Pope Leo seems selective on the current affairs he chimes in on…

Catholic here. And yes I believe the RCC is the one, true, apologetic Church founded by Jesus Christ himself.

That does not mean we haven’t and will continue to have bad Popes. The Church will survive this period of weak leadership in the Vatican and USCBC, etc., that began in mid 20th Century…God will never abandon his Church.

All that being said, Leo has a really bad habit of chiming in on hot button items, but goes noticeably absent on others. He doesn’t have much to say about the abortion mills in his own home state or the gang violence in Chicago.

He didn’t say anything about Lindsay Clancy, or about the Muslim extremists slaughtering innocents in Africa.

What issue do you need his guidance on?

Can you think of any possible reason the Pope might opine about the death penalty right now?

I wasn’t planning on this immediately devolving into this debate

But what items specifically are you referring to?

The Church itself is durable. Has it been infiltrated with usurpers throughout different periods? Yes it absolutely has, but they’ve never been able to take it down in 2,000 years

I'm not ready to write him off as a bad pope just yet, but your observation is correct. It's a huge PR mistake because it creates the appearance of putting politics first and God second.

Even Francis did a better job with this. In spite of his tendency to cause confusion he compared abortionists to hitmen and wanted to root frociaggine out of the seminaries.

It's also important to push back against the sins that are normalized in society.

I wouldn't panic too much. He recently appointed Cordileone to the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura.

He’s a homosexual and shouldn’t be worshipped or taken seriously.

Do you honestly pay attention to all of his statements? Or did you just notice this statement because people were crying about it on the political board?

Pope speaks on abortion
quote:

“In light of this profound vision of life as a gift to be cherished, and of the family as its responsible guardian, we categorically reject any practice that denies or exploits the origin of life and its development,” the pope firmly stated, calling abortion a practice that “cuts short a growing life and refuses to welcome the gift of life.”

Delivering the address in English, he told the diplomats that the Holy See “considers it deplorable that public resources are allocated to suppress life, rather than being invested to support mothers and families. The primary objective must remain the protection of every unborn child and the effective and concrete support of every woman so that she is able to welcome life.”

or the gang violence in Chicago.
Pope on family and criminal recruitment
quote:

“Today, we bear witness to the pain of many broken families, whether due to drug use, violence, the criminal recruitment of a child, poverty, or the lack of opportunities that push people to the margins of society,” Leo explained.

“The family, which the Second Vatican Council rightly called the ‘domestic church,‘ is the place where life is nurtured, cared for, and planned. There is no better defense against drugs than a good family,” Leo said.

You are correct

or about the Muslim extremists slaughtering innocents in Africa.
Pope on the slaughter of religious groups in africa
quote:

“There’s a question of terrorism. There’s a question that has to do a lot with economics, if you will, and control of the lands that they have,” the pope continued. “Unfortunately, many Christians have died, and I think it’s very, it’s important to seek a way for the government, with all peoples, to promote authentic religious freedom.”

This is what's pissing me off about the last two Popes. Neither one of them have the courage to condemn Islam but will openly condemn the United States for whatever raison du jour. Without American Catholics the RCC goes broke.

Funny... he does not direct the excommunication of any political figures that support abortion (including demanding funding for it) nor does he intercede on behalf of the priests/bishops that have been punished by the Church for denying communion to those politicians.

I also don't recall the Vatican criticizing the ACA and its requirements that health plans pay for abortion and contraception nor did it bankroll the lawsuits by CATHOLIC hospitals (or the Little Sisters of the Poor) fighting those requirements.

Pope on family and criminal recruitment

The quote is bereft of any acknowledgement of the agency and choice of those who participate in such behavior (or a condemnation of it). Instead, it is a thinly veiled criticism of capitalism - citing poverty and lack of opportunity for "marginal" people.

quote:

Pope on the slaughter of religious groups in Africa

That is some of the weakest word salad ever. I actually remember this one and was amazed at his refusal to call a spade and spade and to criticize Islam - as it is the ONLY religion actively seeking the destruction/subjugation of the followers of other faiths. Instead, it becomes a discussion of "economics and control of the land" and is arguably an indictment of Israel's Gaza/West Bank policies.

Leo is an anti-Western socialist and, like Francis and some other popes before him, is willing to overlook the grave sins of socialist (and the US Democrat party) in exchange for their "social justice" policies - which includes open borders.

How often do you want the Pope to remind people not to murder in cold blood? It just seems like people are looking for a reason to be offended by the Pope.

That's because he's a communist. So he only chimes in on communist issues.

The issue is never the issue, the issue is always the revolution.

State sanctioned executions of its citizens is a communist issue. But those endorsing executions would be the communists.

The pope is not a Fox News contributor. If you want someone who speaks to every local right wing issue, go to the entertainers.

And the pope comments on issues that only affect other parts of the world. You just never hear about it.

I believe in God but I don't believe in the Pope. Way too many pedophiles for way too many years running the Catholic church. Honestly, I find it all disgusting.

As for what he says, it is a job to him. He spouts the company line and refuses to call a spade a spade. Compassion, you know.
