Cradle Catholic here. I agree with your statement - the Catholic Church has had bad Popes in the past and she will have bad Popes in the future. Remember, the man who betrayed Jesus, broke bread with him the night before he was crucified. Satan wants that Chair of Peter. While I was thrilled the College of Cardinals elected an American to the Chair of Peter, I was disappointed this Pope did not move to separate himself from Papa Bergoglio's radical policies - especially his "Seamless Garment of Synodality" absurdity. An absurdity he borrowed from the Anglican Church. Absolutely, Jesus hung around with the marginalized, the tax collectors, the prostitutes, BUT he also demanded these people STOP sinning.
IMO Bergoglio made some really disturbing moves. One of those disturbing moves involved Bergoglio removing the sanctions imposed by Pope Benedict on Ted McCarrick - the defrocked priest and Bishop accused of homosexual impropriety. Before McCarricks fall from grace, Bergoglio appointed him to head the negotiating team with the ChiComs that led to the destruction of the unground Catholic Church in China. Some of the provisions of that betrayal of the unground Catholic Church in Chima were devestating - like the arrest of priest, and what I consider the most destructive - the Chinese Communist Party will approve every clerical appointment to Bishop in the "official Catholic Church of China".
There were other disturbing and distinctly anti-Catholic actions taken by Bergoglio. Too many to mention here.
As it applies to Bergoglio's actions here in America, among the most notable of Bergoglio actions against traditionalist Catholics in America was the removal of Bishop Joseph Strickland - Bishop of the Diocese of Tyler. Without question, I believe Bishop Strickland was targeted because of his opposition to the growing problem of LGBT activism in America AND in the Catholic Church of America. But Bishop Strickland was not the only traditionalist cleric targeted in this country. Some very questionable circumstances surrounding Daniel Cardinal DiNardo's treatment still remain unanswered.
Does/has communist infiltration exist(ed) in the Catholic Church? Absolutely. On this site I have shared disturbing proof of communist infiltration, in the past, in Catholic Seminaries in the world - especially in Europe.
The Catholic Church is rich, she is powerful, and she is influential. We must recall it was the powerful and influential Pharasees and Saduccees who schemed to kill Jesus Christ. They feared Jesus, so they killed him. That tells you all you need to know about the way those who oppose these people are treated.
The battle for the soul of the world (and America) is the great struggle of our time.
Pray, Fast, and Cling to the Jesus of the Poor. Jesus, I trust in you.
Veritas, quid est? – Pontius Pilatus

The pope is not a Fox News contributor.
He's not necessarily an MSNBC contributor either, but he sure goes out of his way to sound like one fairly often. Nerd.

Other than the zip lines and laser shows not failing so people show up to their churches to be entertained.
quote:According to the gospels Jesus showed us something of how he thought about religious institutions. He did not object to religious authority or institutions. He objected when religious authority began acting as though access to God belonged to the institution rather than to God.
The entirety of their faith depends on telling everyone they meet that Catholics are not really Christian.
To be clear, that criticism can be leveled at the Catholic church, Protestant denominations, megachurch pastors, televangelists, theological gatekeepers, celebrity preachers, or any other Christian institution that starts confusing its own authority with God's.
Any human tendency to turn faith into bureaucracy, hierarchy, status, and control is not Godly.

They have been silent on abortion forever. Back in the 80s they used the threaten the possibility of excommunication for politicians endorsing abortion but they never did anything. At some point they stopped making the threat.
If you can't defend the defenseless then the pope needs to STFU about murdering piles of garbage.
