Some overlap with this map
And some overlap with this map, as well
Unwed mothers are more plentiful in areas where the population is both poor and poorly educated.

Ok, thanks for the details. I agree with you.
And to be fair to you the phrase "livable wage" has been bastardized to such a degree by the socialist wing of the DNC that using it on my part was an unnecessary point of confusion because what they mean in terms of "universal living wage" etc is not at all the same as what the MAGA wing of the GOP wants.
That is to say enhancing the economy around a tier of jobs that generate wealth not only for the business, but for the economy at large via exports, the government via taxes. And when the economy is thriving those resulting outputs are profitable enough for the business to ensure that labor demand results reactively rather than via government mandate to drive wages to a point at which people can be paid as their parents and grandparents were.
But we were screwed for generations now via globalization and the mass importation of foreign workers both at the H1B and unskilled labor side that reduced jobs and wages for Americans even as those opportunities shrunk annually.

As a nation, we are in a reoccurring cycle that LBJ started and politicians recognize as a means of control. The suggestions of welfare control sounds reasonable and logical but we have gone too far with the “everything is free” mentality to turn this around.
This is part of why racism and skin color division has become such a strong and widely used tactic and it’s lead to a sense of entitlement that won’t be taken away or broken without major conflict within our nation.
I grew up in a small rural Louisiana town and a large percentage of the population was living off of government subsidies, give away programs. Now, 50 years later, those same families are still living off of government programs and those families had lived off government give away for 25 years or more before I was born,
This lifestyle thrives from and rewards immortality, incest, sexual abuse which demoralizes and turns young girls into baby factories, children aren’t brought into the world out of love and family, they are brought into the world as a means to get free everything and more and more of it. It pushes the human population that’s involved into an existence that’s hardly any different than wild animals. Roam the area where they exist, randomly breeding with any sex partner that shows up, have an unlimited number of babies and get paid for doing it.
It’s not just the inner cities, although they are the most noticeable just due to the numbers involved but just drive around Louisiana, on the old highways that span the rural areas, some weekend get out anf drive around for 3 or 4 hours, travel La 1, 171, 84, 165, you’ll pass village after village that used to be towns, they are now on there last leg, welfare and people’s willingness to stay on free stuff are killing Louisiana and we are past the point of recovery in most rural towns.

It's a way of life in these two.
Young girls are taught how to "get paid", the formula is having a child without being married, it's passed down from generation to generation.
It has always blown my mind that we allow people who can't or wont support themselves to basically breed at will and then encourage that breeding by increasing benefits. Additional EBT funds, bigger government house, etc...
Benefits should be temporary and stringently tied to birth control, drug testing, etc ... to include those on disability. If you're too disabled to work, you're too disabled to breed.
Everything the government subsidizes increases demand when the intent should be to get people back on their feet as contributing citizens.

That is my question. Does this include a couple who decide not to marry but have children?
You mean those were the father makes $80k a year but doesn't marry so the mother can draw benefits, but if if you were to investigate, he sleeps in the house every night. The very house that taxpayers subsidize through Sect 8 and other programs.

At this point I'm in favor of birth control in the water or something. Mandatory birth control implant like in the show Silo.
You can frick all you want, but you're not brining another sponge into this world until you can pass an IQ test, background test, hold a job that affords you to pay for the child, and are in a stable relationship.

"There's a big big difference between unwed parents, and absent parents."
This is true in terms of the quality of individual situations, but by and large the data for unwed versus married parents give you the information you need to consider and potentially address social pathologies. This is because most cohabitating couples having children are married (about 90% is the number I have seen).

No. Someone could probably make a loose connection but there's no clear cause and effect .
