How is pointing out he doesn't understand what a democrat is or what DOGE is actually accomplishing in any way related to TDS?

I don't think there's been a budget put up to vote yet for this administration. Pretty sure all spending that is occurring is from previous admin/congress.

this

i have been highly critical of trump spending in first term but this current spending is not on him. been in office less than 3 months and already people are blaming him

and not to mention congress controls overall spending

I guess you found the one time Mark Wayne did something productive or helpful then.

Hmmmm. Maybe? Lol
I don't know much about him, a few around here dogged him when i had posted this last week. I figure since hes a senator and been ther a while he probably understands the process much better than i do.

1) that's what a CR is - which is so fricking infuriating (every CR since 2009 has included the almost $800 billion of "stimulus")

I don’t think this is accurate. The "$800 billion stimulus" seems like to be a reference to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). That was a one time bill. But it did allot spending over a few years mostly from 2009 to 2011.

ARRA was never part of a CR and it remained separate from the CR process by law. Not a single CR since 2009 has included the stimulus package, nor have they included the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, or the American Rescue Plan Act .

That's wrong.

It was a supplemental to the 2008 budget. Therefore, it was included in every CR thereafter.

Questionably. Mark Wayne managed to replace inhoff here in Oklahoma. Inhoff was king of pork and ensuring Oklahoma received as much federal money as he could grab, he was also very respected by other senators. Mark Wayne isn't so much. He's desperately trying to play full on maga loyalist while also sticking to neocon roots and avoiding the federal pork loss to his state. I expect to see him launch a presidential bid at the end of Trump's term he's trying to work up to it atleast is what folks here are saying...

How much of it was the Turnip's admin jamming as much spending as possible before they were out the door?

You realize this budget per the CR just passed is an extension of the Biden Admin.

The 4 biggest items in the federal budget are social security, Medicare, defense, and debt servicing. Unless we significantly cut some of that, everything else is just rounding errors for the most part. We can't balance the budget just by cutting discretionary spending.

Ironically, thats EXACTLY where the savings are, with little impact to the actual services. Probably close to a trillion dollars.

Its why politicians on both side use that often mentioned quote.........and the unknowing public screams "dont throw gradma off a cliff".....and they continue to thief as usual.

Having said all that, nothing suggests it's going to get better. I can hope but I wouldn't bet on it.

Everyone can easily see that Trump is working to reduce spending.

Canceling a $2b contract to Stacy Abrams. Rubio closing USAID. DOGE. Workforce reductions. External Revenue Service.

Trump wants to impound funds, and he's being fought on that as well.

You'd have to be blind to not see any evidence that Trump wants to cut spending. If he wasn't, then there would be no need for the democrats to keep suing him to force continued spending.

Saying he doesn't want to reduce spending because it hasn't happened 70 days into his administration is not a serious argument. If spending isn't reduced during his term, it will be on congress and activist judges.

Per Grok “based on available data, Trump's administration spent $710 billion from January 21 to February 20, 2025, compared to $630 billion for the same period in 2024 under Biden, indicating higher spending in the first quarter of his term.”

I hope this changes and we don’t keep increasing spending.

Cutting government spending and achieving a balanced budget is gonna be as popular as pulling wisdom teeth without novocain to those who rely on and are accustomed to government spending.

He's not though. In order to cut or curtail spending Trump Admin will have to do two things:

-Deep Cuts to Social Security/Medicare/Military

-Return to pre Covid spending levels

Trump is doing neither of those things. Trump is not a fiscal conservative.
