Part of the grift for the Right is performative Christianity. It's insulting, but a large part of the base eats it up. Whether it's someone like Paula White, Candace Owens with her "Christ is king" tweets at Ben Shapiro, or Milo Yiannopoulos's "conversion" it's all just a bad look for actual believers.
Another part of why Charlie Kirk was so successful was that his faith came off as sincere, and he did a great job of navigating and incorporating it in his broader message that didn't alienate others.
