Was the Libertarian Party ever libertarian?

That’s a good question. Especially since Ron Paul got more support as a republican and the only libertarians in congress have also had to have the R tag.

Well, Jeremy Kauffman, a very well known libertarian and awesome X follow told them to their faces it's dead at the national level. Straight up called them "loser apes"

I completely agree w/ him and I'm a libertarian.

The change, unfortunately, has to come through the Republican party, especially at the national level. It's just the reality of the situation.

Open borders while prohibiting the federal governments ability to defend the country seems like a great idea. Libertarianism might be able to work at the state-level (I have my doubts). But, it goes against the very fabric of our Union at the national level.

Not since I started paying attention over the last 20 or so years. Seems like the actual party attracts freaks that dont give a shite actual policy (non-intervenist foreign policy, Austrian economics, etc.) Half the party just wants to be able to do whatever queer shite shite they want and not be told no (gay version of anarchists) OR squabble over party administration and Trans rights (even gayer version of democrats).

Sucks that the winning policies are gatekept by losers
