Is saying “ All lives Matter” racist?

Apparently it is . My wife commented on our mixed Niece’s post( I know ‘ dear Facebook’) All lives matter’. Our Niece who is mixed went off on her calling us racist because that is a racist statement and because we support Trump. This young lady and her sisters stayed with us a couple weeks during summers growing up. We went to a lot of their schools events( sports mostly) but to be honest I never really seen her black relatives there to much. My wife is really hurt over this. We are kind of older then most on here and she really didn’t know that saying “ All Lives Matter” was offensive

All Lives Matter is not racist. Ones who shoot this down use it as a silencing tool when they’ve lost an argument.

Congrats. You are getting the Drew Brees treatment. Sounds like you have been very good to this girl and after 1 seemingly innocuous statement, she now sees you as a racist. If she keeps it up, tell her to go frick herself. You dont need this bullshite in your lives.

It’s not racist (by any sane person’s definition) to say All Lives Matter. However, it’s pretty tone deaf and combative to what people mean with Black Lives Matter. I don’t mind the phrase. It’s certainly true that all lives can’t matter until black lives matter too.
It’s all the other bullshite that has been tacked onto the movement that is off the charts batshit crazy.
