Did you take a class and pass a background check to go to church?

Yes, the person prepping for a mass shooting will keep that law in mind.

Isn’t it really convenient that most mass shootings happen in gun free areas isn’t it?

The guys who teach the conceal carry classes, mostly current or retired police, do not want this to pass because it destroys their side hustle. I spoke with a guy I know who teaches the classes and he's against it. Of course.....He tried to give me the typical safety argument but I know better

Most of the "law and order" types are against constitutional carry.

Not because they disagree with the idea, but because it cuts out their side hustle, or in the case of the sheriffs, an opportunity to arrest more people and fill up their jails.

conceal carry is not a constitutional right.

I’m all for constitutional carry, but I believe the reason he never went to a crime scene where the perp had a CCP is bc criminals generally don’t apply/get approved for one.

I have my doubts. I bet the legislature fricks with the bill, changing it somewhat from the one that passed before and suddenly, representatives that voted for it before will find a way to vote against it for one reason or another. I feel they only passed it last time to grand stand knowing JBE would veto it.

I sure hope I’m wrong, though.

Have that dumbass explain to you why a mandatory civics exam should be given each year, and they must pay for, and pass, to vote is a good idea.

If I performed concealed carry classes, I’d tell everyone to vote for the rep that promises to vote for constitutional carry.

I’m glad they can. I respect veterans for their service, but this is some bullshite.

Once they are no longer actively serving, they are citizens just like the rest of us. They should not have extra rights the rest of us do not have. This is different from compensatory benefits like pension and health care. This is a privilege.

Don’t strip it from them. Recognize it for all of us.

Danny McCormick's bill will never pass. He is a joke and is hated by just about everyone in the legislature.

The actual bill that will go into effect will be filed by Blake Miguez in the Senate.

Book it

If you're a military veteran, you don't need to wait for it. We can conceal carry now, without any formal training, etc.

I took the class in LA and TX. Honestly, any ignorant person can pass the test without effort. In fact, my TX instructor said he's never seen a person fail. It takes a personal desire to know and understand the laws. I find the classes valuable, but if I wanted to just check the box, I could.

As far as the background check, what's the point. You still aren't legally allowed to constitutionally carry if you have a felony or some other issue that would trigger a background check failure. So, if you decide to carry, then get caught, you are breaking the law and face the consequences. Criminals will break the law and continue to do it even if the legal requirement is in place. This law doesn't give anyone who couldn't attain the right before eligibility to carry. It just removes the paperwork and red tape.

I still advocate for getting the license even though I'm all for removing the requirement. Businesses still have the right to restrict carrying in their establishment. And it definitely happens here in TX. You will see "No Unlicensed Carry" signs. Plus there's state reciprocity. Even some states that have constitutional carry only extend it to citizens of that state. So you'd need the license.

DumBel was a very vindictive sort, and used the line item veto freely to punish those that went against his wishes. So they had to pick their battles.

Although, it seems apparent so far that the Little General is way beyond him on the vindictive scale. Ask Garrett Graves.
