I was a registered Democrat for my entire adulthood until 2016 (20 years), when I dropped the (D) and registered as independent. I've been voting for Republicans since 2008. Last time I voted for a Democrat in any election was 2004.
Some might see that as confusing but I've got my reasons. Right or wrong, I refuse to identify on paper with the GOPe, because they say all the right things but what they actually do is just advance the Establishment agenda at a slower pace.
See Thune and Johnson, who have ultimate power to pass the SAVE Act right now, but do nothing.
