If you want to begin to diagnose Tucker with whatever has seized him, I would suggest watching some his early work on Firing Line

I’m not sure who he’s registered with, but when I listen to his show in its entirety instead of read what people here say he said, I have a hard time finding disagreement with him.

In recent years, Carlson evolved into a nationalist and populist commentator. His criticism of Israel and willingness to interview or engage with figures from the Muslim world makes me question whether this is (1) an ideological evolution (2) simply another shift in response to the current political moment or (3) other motivations including financial that are driving the shift.
Carlson, throughout his career, has played roles specific to the point in political time. At CNN he was the preppy, bow tie conservative. At MSNBC, he ditched the bow tie, suffered poor ratings while seeking to play the skeptical libertarian. He then goes to Fox where he bounces around on various shows until 2016 when he hits with Tucker Carlson Tonight. Once let go by Fox he starts his own site/channel.
Internet searches claim he was a registered Democrat from 2006-2020 (he says just to vote in DC elections) and a Republican from 2020-2026. Most recently, he claims to now be independent after leaving the Republican Party mainly over his dislike of alignment with Israel.
He is highly adaptive leading people to question whether he is simply an evolving media chameleon or a paid one.
