That has not one damn thing to do with the mindset of Iran and their actions.

they're just stalling and have been from the beginning. They would gladly sacrifice every last person in the country before giving into the US.

Well, with the corruption we've seen in other areas, that wouldn't shock me in the least.
How many audits has the Pentagon failed in a row?

Not fully buying that our munition stockpile is drained, though. Inth8nknthats just one of the theories floating around.
Even remotely depleted would be unacceptable for the amount we spend.

The perception is the US is quitting and has no stomach for much more. There are 100’s of videos on line of elected officials calling the Iranian actions a quagmire and demanding we get out. Media say Trump is hated and has no support. To them, it looks like the Iranians are winning.

Why would they give in?

Both the methodology for sampling could be sound and the JCPOA (if that's what you're angling at) could have been a shitty deal at the same time.

What countries were they attacking before they were attacked?

This is a great opportunity to formally walk away from the negotiating table, bomb them to hell and back again, and then declare victory and leave.

May be our last decent exit ramp to get out and save some face.

Surely POTUS and his Iran BrainTrust realize this. Unless they just want to circle the drain tap-dancing for a bunch of terrorists in perpetuity.

Hard to tell at this point.

You do understand that Iran is geographically located on one side of the Strait and it is extremely narrow?

Yeah I served over there in those waters dipshit. Make all the excuses you want but we had no plan for the Strait. Massive error.

Thanks for the cerebral response. The deal had at least 4 really bad flaws in my opinion. I personally believe that the President was receiving good counsel prior to withdrawing. Patience and diplomatic savvy could have (possibly) incrementally corrected those flaws. It took Iran almost a full year to violate the JCPOA even after the withdrawal from the agreement (even with sanctions.)

By this time, he had his staff packed with neocons who would not point this out. I do not think the President is war-minded. However, his other obvious personality traits can be used by hawks to manipulate him IMO.

I suppose my point was that his refusal to accept his advisor’s counsel about (and to certify) the IAEA’s assessment from 2018 has led us to our current situation. It was basically an unforced error. The respect/fear they had for him very much gave him the upper hand then.

Really just the nail in the coffin. Anyone so easily swayed shouldn't be president IMO
