Serious question: Is the amount of shite and trash in India a source of concern for the people there?

Do the politicians and the elite class make any efforts to get it cleaned up?

Geez, what boomer says this?

To be fair, there are some very smart ones and hard-working but I would put them at around 1-2%. I've worked with close to 100 of them on commercial projects in IT, and I've only encountered 2 that were worth a damn.

I'm very grateful I work in DoW contracting. There are none at all where I work now.

looks like your 2nd paragraph is about boomers

Three of the four convenience/gas stores I pass every day are pajeet-owned. One was bought out just a few years ago. I went in a few times but now I drive past them to a local American owned store, people I’ve known all my life. I hope they hold out and don’t sell. If you get close enough you can smell the body odor.

How old do you think Millenials are? We have Millenials over 40 now so I highly doubt most Millenials think anyone over 40 is a Boomer.

You should always check leather items, belts, shoes, boots, etc. If it says made in India, it’s water buffalo and was manufactured in Kanpur, by the thousands, if not millions. All you see today is how they’re attempting to actually mitigate the problems of the past, that’s an impossibility.

Basically, Hindus believe that the waters of the Ganges, and others, are cleansing, and can grant some level of immortality (multiple lives). So the dumping of shite and trash in the river is a religious feature, not a bug. What this has to do with shitting in the street I do not know.

quote:

Large-scale religious gatherings, such as the Kumbh Mela, involve millions of devotees participating in ritualistic bathing in rivers. While the spiritual significance is paramount for adherents, the sheer volume of people engaging in mass bathing, often accompanied by open defecation, leads to severe fecal contamination of water bodies. Studies conducted during previous Kumbh Melas have shown a dramatic increase in fecal coliform bacteria, indicating a significant rise in human waste contamination. This pollution does not remain localized; it flows downstream, affecting water quality and posing health risks to communities along the riverbanks. The practice of open defecation in and around sacred rivers underscores a critical public health and environmental challenge.

In certain parts of North India, the tradition of water burial, or immersing the mortal remains of the deceased in rivers, is practiced. While adherents consider it a sacred rite, this practice releases decomposing organic matter into water bodies, contributing to pollution and the spread of diseases. During times of crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the sight of numerous bodies floating in rivers like the Ganga became a stark and tragic symbol of this practice and its devastating environmental and public health implications.

I had Gemini find me the link at the top of the photo. It is indeed tsunami data.

The feces concentration title appears to be photoshopped.
