Yea you’ve got a bunch of weirdo baws on here who claim to be shooting 1” groups at 2,000 yards but I hunt a lot, I can shoot ragged holes in paper with pistols at 15 yards, I’m a very good rifle shot, and if I don’t have much time to get set up in the tree stand and a deer surprises me, I’m shooting a beach ball or larger pattern at 100 yards. And that’s a deer, not a presidential candidate in a crowd of people where I know I’m dying right after I pull the trigger. Highly doubt someone can do that without seeing combat before

I'm not convinced (yet) Trump was impacted by an intact projectile or that the ear hit was a precisely aimed shot

There is a photo from a NYT reporter with the bullet on the other side of his head.

Honestly, the folks creaming at him before the shot probably saved Trump's life by raising his anxiety level

If he'd hit, it wouldn't be considered amateurish. All things considered, he didn't miss by much.

The SS agent did NOT have all of those conditions, in fact he was missing the most important one by a factor of 100.

Subtle brag.
Not really. I've had clean misses on much easier shots.

True, but let's keep in mind that a 150yd shot with almost any center-fire rifle is close range and nearly point blank with optics involved. I can get my fiancée to hit a small plate with one of my AR's with a LVPO and cheap ball ammo easily, some LWNJ can easily be a threat with a rifle and only enough range time to get familiar and a zero. Trump was extremely lucky unlike the poor innocents that caught those rounds.

Could you explain why? While I appreciate other calibers my be more suitable, I'd like to hear your opinions.

I found/find the AR platform to be very accurate to at least 300 meters. In the army we qualified with man sized targets out to 300 meters with open sights.

Just curious why you say that.

seemed like a damn near perfect shot

If Trump hadn't turned his head a split second before the shot, it would have been in the side of his head.

It’s not that hard. Rifles are usually capable of much more than the person handling them. For someone who practices at that distance it’s not that difficult ETA: I missed the running part. Not an ethical shot but can be done

If you wounded the deer and it was running away it’s definitely ethical. That’s the only time I have ever shot a running deer

Moving head shots are tough at any distance. Without knowing his exact set up I would say him making contact puts him average, maybe slightly above average.

I’m put about 75-150 long range rounds (400-1500 yds) a week down range and about 1,000 rounds down range in the tactical bays a week. Tactical I’m working 9mm sidearm and a couple different 5.56 platforms.

What an ethical sportsman you are. Maybe a pig which doesn’t matter to me but I’m trying to kill and retrieve a deer

Yeah the shooter didn’t really miss. He was probably 2 inches off from where he was aiming. Trump tilted his head at the exact moment to buy another 2 inches.

What concerns me more is the negligence (or on purpose) leaving that rooftop totally unguarded. I have listened to many experts in this area by now. Something isn’t right about leaving the closest rooftop open with a clear shot at the president.

I don't know what that photo shows, but it isn't the bullet.

Ehh. That’s a pretty generalized statement. We have no idea how someone would react physiologically in that amount of stress. Especially if he actually had a chance of achieveing his goal.
